Answer:

-1.61481

Step-by-step explanation:

-1.4x = 4(x + 2.18)

Pemdas

get rid of parentheses

-1.4x= 4x +8.72

then subtract from both sides to get x's on the same side

-1.4x-4x=4x+8.72-4x

positive 4x and negative 4x cancel each other out and  put the x['s on the left side together so -5.4x

-5.4x=8.72

divide -5.4 from both

-5.4x/-5.4= 8.72/-5.4

x=-1.61481 or round up to two

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

<em>Identify.</em>

Point (2, 2)

Point (7, 7)

<u>Step 2: Find distance </u><u><em>d</em></u>

Simply plug in the 2 coordinates into the distance formula to find distance <em>d</em>.

  1. Substitute in points [Distance Formula]:                                                     \displaystyle d = \sqrt{(7 - 2)^2 + (7 - 2)^2}
  2. [Order of Operations] Evaluate:                                                                  \displaystyle d = 5\sqrt{2}

Which of the following would be a good name for the function that takes the length of a race and returns the time needed to comp
ser-zykov [4K]

Answer:

B. Time(length)

Step-by-step explanation:

The function that would be represented as a good name for a function for the length of the race and the return the time required to finished it

here the independent variable or the INPUT is the length while the output would be the time that required to finish it

Hence, the correct option is B,

Therefore all the other options would be incorrect

if the product of 4 and a number is decreased by 12, the result is twice the opposite of the number. Find the number. EXPLAIN PL
ELEN [110]
Answer:  The number is:  "2 " .
__________________________________________
Explanation:
__________________________________________
Write the expression; which is an equation, as follows:
__________________________________________
     " 4x <span>− 12 = 2(-x) " ;  in which "x" represents "the number for which we shall                                       solve" .
___________________________________________
Note:

If the "number" = "x" ;  the "opposite of the number"  =  " -x " ;
</span>___________________________________________
Rewrite as:  " 4x <span>− 12 = -2x " ;
</span>_____________________________________________
     →  Add "12" ; & add "2x" ; to EACH SIDE of the equation:

                      4x − 12 + 12 + 2x = -2x + 12 + 2x ;

           to get:    6x  = 12  ;
____________________________________________________
 Now, divide each side of the equation by "6" ;
     to isolate "x" on one side of the equation; & to solve for "x" ;
____________________________________________________
                         6x / 6  =  12 / 6 ;

                    to get:    x = 2 .
____________________________________________________
Answer:  The number is:  "2 " .
____________________________________________________
Let us check our answer, by plugging in "2" for "x" in our original equation:
_____________________________________________________
        →   " 4x − 12 = 2(-x) " ;

  Let us plug in "2" for "x" ; to see if the equation holds true; that is; if both side of the equation are equal; when "x = 2" ;

        →   " 4(2) − 12 = ?  2(-2) ??

        →    8 − 12 = ?  -4 ? ;

        →    -4 = ? -4 ??  Yes!
