Liquid A would rest on top of liquid B
Liquid B is much more dense and would sink to the bottom of the container wile liquid A would rest on top of it. Like how a pool noodle floats because it’s less dense than water other liquids can float as well.

What is the optimum ph of a sodium formate/formic acid buffer? (for formic acid, ka = 1. 7 × 10–4. )
hoa [83]

The optimum pH of formic acid - formate buffer is 3.75

What is pH?

 • pH is a measure of how acidic/basic water is. The range goes from 0 - 14, with 7 being neutral. pHs of less than 7 indicate acidity, whereas a pH of greater than 7 indicates a base.
 • pH is really a measure of the relative amount of free hydrogen and hydroxyl ions in the water.

What is Buffer ?

A substance or a solution which resists any changes in pH, when acid or alkali is added to it.

pH = pKa + log[base] / [acid]

Considering equimolar concentration of acid and base

pH = 3.75 + log(x)/(x)

pH = 3.75 + log (1)

pH = 3.75 + 0

pH = 3.75

Hence,

The optimum pH of formic acid - formate buffer is 3.75

Carbon monoxide (CO) gas reacts with oxygen (O2) gas to produce carbon dioxide (CO2) gas. If 1.00 L of carbon monoxide reacts wi
alisha [4.7K]

Answer:

1.98 g

Explanation:

The balanced reaction would be:

2CO + O2 = 2CO2

We assume that the gases are ideal gas so that we use the relation that 1 mol of an ideal gas is equal to 22.4 L of the gas at STP. From that relation, we get the number of moles and we can convert it to other units. We do as follows:

1.0 L CO ( 1 mol / 22.4 L ) ( 2 mol CO2 / 2mol CO ) = 0.045 mol CO2 produced

0.045 mol CO2 ( 22.4 L / 1 mol ) = 1 L of CO2

0.045 mol CO2 ( 44.01 g / 1 mol ) = 1.98 g of CO2

GaryK [48]

Answer:

D)subscript of C in molecular formula = n x subscript of C in empirical formula

Explanation:

THIS IS THE COMPLETE QUESTION BELOW;

.The empirical formula for a compound is CH2. If n is a whole number, which shows a correct relationship between the molecular formula and the empirical formula? a)

empirical formula mass / molecular mass = n

B) molecular mass = element mass / empirical formula mass ´ 100

c) subscript of H in empirical formula = 2 subscript of H in molecular formula

D) subscript of C in molecular formula = n subscript of C in empirical formula

An empirical formula can be regarded as "shorten form" of a molecular formula. Instance of this is

A compounds CH4, C2H8, C4H12... with empirical formula of CH4. In this case a constant "n" represent the difference that exist between empirical formula and molecular formula, "n" which is a whole number, molecular formula is the numerator.

Therefore, subscript of C in molecular formula = n x subscript of C in empirical formula
