Answer:

Option D

Explanation:

In general a sample collected from a set of naturally distributed data set must also follow the bell curve or natural distribution

In other way round it can be said that sample set must have the same characteristics as that of the main set and hence a sample must be representative of the population.

A spherical, stainless steel (k 16 W m1 K-1) tank has a wall thickness of 0.2 cm and an inside diameter of 10 cm. The inside sur
SOVA2 [1]

Answer:

the rate of heat loss is 2.037152 W

Explanation:

Given data

stainless steel K = 16 W m^{-1}K^{-1}

diameter (d1) = 10 cm

so radius (r1)  = 10 /2 = 5 cm = 5 × 10^{-2}

radius (r2)  = 0.2 + 5 = 5.2 cm = 5.2 × 10^{-2}

temperature = 25°C

surface heat transfer coefficient = 6 6 W m^{-2}K^{-1}

outside air temperature = 15°C

To find out

the rate of heat loss

Solution

we know current is pass in series from temperature = 25°C to  15°C

first pass through through resistance R1  i.e.

R1  = ( r2 -  r1 ) / 4\pi  × r1 × r2 × K

R1  = ( 5.2 - 5 ) 10^{-2}  / 4\pi  × 5 × 5.2 × 16 × 10^{-4}

R1  = 3.825 ×  10^{-3}

same like we calculate for resistance R2 we know   i.e.

R2 = 1 / ( h × area )

here area = 4 \pi r2²

area = 4 \pi (5.2 × 10^{-2})²  =  0.033979

so R2 = 1 / ( h × area ) = 1 / ( 6 × 0.033979  )

R2 = 4.90499

now we calculate the heat flex rate by the initial and final temp and R1 and R2

i.e.

heat loss = T1 -T2 / R1 + R2

heat loss = 25 -15 / 3.825 ×  10^{-3} + 4.90499

heat loss =  2.037152 W

Explain the advantages of continuous insulation in envelope assemblies and why it is better to have the continuous insulation on
Luden [163]

Answer:

Continuous insulation helps in eliminating the  necessity of applying extra materials to achieve moisture barrier demands, reducing labor and material cost.

Continuous insulation helps building last much longer over a period of time,without the need to upgrade and repair.

Inside the placement of continuous insulation in the envelope needed includes the following; the foundation wall or slab insulation, balcony interface, bond joist insulation, insulation against sub floor, on the interior of masonry wall.

Explanation:

Solution:

The analytical path to success contains a well planned and designed building exterior, which avoids the loss of energy, control cost and the maximization of technology advancement in materials.

Property installed continuous insulation on the exterior can also execute as an air barrier. the flashing of wall penetrations can form into a drainage plane. this plane can stop potentially damaging moisture from entering into the wall assembly.

By making use of continuous insulation it helps in removing necessity of applying extra materials to achieve moisture barrier demands, reducing labor and material cost.

Continuous insulation helps building to withstand the test of time without the need to upgrade and repair

Now inside the placement of continuous insulation in the envelope is needed as follows:

  • Foundation wall or slab insulation
  • Insulation against sub floor
  • Balcony interfaces
  • On the interior of masonry wall
  • Bond  joist insulation

Using a forked rod, a 0.5-kg smooth peg P is forced to move along the vertical slotted path r = (0.5 θ) m, whereθ is in radians.
-BARSIC- [3]

Answer:

N_c = 3.03 N

F = 1.81 N

Explanation:

Given:

- The attachment missing from the question is given:

- The given expressions for the radial and θ direction of motion:

                                       r = 0.5*θ

                                       θ = 0.5*t^2              ...... (correction for the question)

- Mass of peg m = 0.5 kg

Find:

a) Determine the magnitude of the force of the rod on the peg at the instant t = 2 s.

b) Determine the magnitude of the normal force of the slot on the peg.

Solution:

- Determine the expressions for radial kinematics:

                                        dr/dt = 0.5*dθ/dt

                                        d^2r/dt^2 = 0.5*d^2θ/dt^2

- Similarly the expressions for θ direction kinematics:

                                        dθ/dt = t

                                        d^2θ/dt^2 = 1

- Evaluate each at time t = 2 s.

                                        θ = 0.5*t^2 = 0.5*2^2 = 2 rad -----> 114.59°

                                        r = 1 m , dr / dt = 1 m/s , d^2 r / dt^2 = 0.5 m/s^2

- Evaluate the angle ψ between radial and horizontal direction:

                                        tan Ψ = r / (dr/dθ) = 1 / 0.5

                                        Ψ = 63.43°

- Develop a free body diagram (attached) and the compute the radial and θ acceleration:

                                        a_r = d^2r / dt^2 - r * dθ/dt

                                        a_r = 0.5 - 1*(2)^2 = -3.5 m/s^2

                                        a_θ =  r * (d^2θ/dt^2) + 2 * (dr/dt) * (dθ/dt)

                                        a_θ = 1(1) + 2*(1)*(2) = 5 m/s^2

- Using Newton's Second Law of motion to construct equations in both radial and θ directions as follows:

Radial direction:              N_c * cos(26.57) - W*cos(24.59) = m*a_r

θ direction:                      F  - N_c * sin(26.57) + W*sin(24.59) = m*a_θ

Where, F is the force on the peg by rod and N_c is the normal force on peg by the slot. W is the weight of the peg. Using radial equation:

                                       N_c * cos(26.57) - 4.905*cos(24.59) = 0.5*-3.5

                                       N_c = 3.03 N

                                       F  - 3.03 * sin(26.57) + 4.905*sin(24.59) = 0.5*5

                                       F = 1.81 N

The pressure gage on a 2.5-m^3 oxygen tank reads 500 kPa. Determine the amount of oxygen in the tank if the temperature is 28°C
s2008m [1.1K]

Answer:

19063.6051 g

Explanation:

Pressure = Atmospheric pressure + Gauge Pressure

Atmospheric pressure = 97 kPa

Gauge pressure = 500 kPa

Total pressure = 500 + 97 kPa = 597 kPa

Also, P (kPa) = 1/101.325  P(atm)

Pressure = 5.89193 atm

Volume = 2.5 m³ = 2500 L ( As m³ = 1000 L)

Temperature = 28 °C

The conversion of T( °C) to T(K) is shown below:

T(K) = T( °C) + 273.15

So,

T₁ = (28.2 + 273.15) K = 301.15 K

Using ideal gas equation as:

PV=nRT

where,

P is the pressure

V is the volume

n is the number of moles

T is the temperature

R is Gas constant having value = 0.0821 L.atm/K.mol

Applying the equation as:

5.89193 atm × 2500 L = n × 0.0821 L.atm/K.mol × 301.15 K

⇒n = 595.76 moles

Molar mass of oxygen gas = 31.9988 g/mol

Mass = Moles * Molar mass = 595.76 * 31.9988 g = 19063.6051 g
