In the presence of excess oxygen, methane gas burns in a constant-pressure system to yield carbon dioxide and water: CH4 (g) + 2
djyliett [7]

Answer:

-100.125

Explanation:

We are given

          CH4 (g) + 2O2 (g) → CO2 (g) + 2H2O (l) △H = -890.0 kJ/mol

The given information is for complete reaction

we have 1.8grams of Methane

Molar mass of CH4 = 16

No of moles of Methane = 1.8/ 16

                                          = 0.1125

So the amount of the heat will be released from the amount of the methane

Q = No of moles*( -890.0 kJ/mol)

  = 0.1125*(-890)

   = -100.125kJ/mole

Therefore the amount of Energy released from 1.8 grams of methane is equal to -100.125

Why do you move the .0100 - x to the left side of the equal sign?
dlinn [17]
Because negatives are on the left and positives are on the right , if it was .0100 +x it would move to the right since +x implies that the x is positive.

Write the iupac name for the compound below. be sure to use correct punctuation.
CaHeK987 [17]
I can't answer this question if the structural formula is not given. However, I found a similar problem in terms of wording. Taking this problem to be solved, let's take a look at the structural formula as shown in the second picture. First, you must know the parent chain, which is the longest chain. This is a trial-and-error process. The longest chain which has a branching group that is nearest to the head is the correct numbering. In this case, the longest chain has 8 carbon atoms. Thus, the base of the name if octane. Because a 3-carbon chain is branching from the 4th carbon, the IUPAC name of the compound shown is: 4-propyloctane.

Islands can also be formed when continental plates collide. When they collide they push land up creating an underwater mountain that goes above land. This land, when surrounded by water, is called an island. Another way an island land form can be made is through deposits of sand that came from erosion. have a great day! :3
