Answer:

a & b.    in 1 sec the object reaches a maximum height of 16 feet

c.      2 sec. the object will hit the ground

Step-by-step explanation:

h = -16t^{2} +32t.

When graphed, you would get a parabola that opens down.  The vertex is the key to the problem.  The vertex (t, h) will give you the maximum height and the time to reach that height.

So,  t = -b/2a = -32/-16(2) = 1

      h(1) = -16(1^{2}) + 32(1) = -16 + 32 = 16

Therefore, the vertex is (1, 16)

So, in 1 sec the object reaches a maximum height of 16 feet

let h = 0 for when the object hits the ground

-16t^{2} +32t = 0

-16t(t - 2) = 0

t = 0  or t = 2

After 2 sec. the object will hit the ground

Find the coordinates of the midpoint of the segment with the given pair of endpoints. J(6, 6); K(2, –4)
Levart [38]

Answer:

(4,1)

Step-by-step explanation:

let J(6,6) be x1, y1

let K(2,-4) be x2, y2

midpoint = (x1+x2)/2 , (y1+y2)/2

=(6+2)/2 ,(6-4)/2

= 8/2 ,2/2

=4, 1

I’m assuming the numbers are 2/3 and 3/4 so find the common denominator. 2/3x4=8/12 and 3/4x3=9/12 so 8/12+9/12= 17/12 or 1 and 5/12

Which statement is not true about the patter shown?
brilliants [131]

Answer:

Each fraction is greater than the previous fraction.

Step-by-step explanation:

Every statement is true except, the one that says "Each fracton is greater than the previous fraction." This statement is not true. I know it looks like it, but let's think about it. Each fraction is equivalent to 2/3, which means they are technically equal to each other. So that means that each fraction is not greater than the previous one. This means that the statement "Each fraction is equal to the previous fraction in the pattern multiplied by 2/2" is a true statement.

2/3 x 2/2 = 4/6

4/6 x 2/2 = 8/12

8/12 x 2/2 = 16/24

16/24 x 2/2 = 32/48

So that means that the next fraction in the pattern is indeed 32/48, making the last statement true.
