Which of the following statements best describes the relationship between the fourth and fifth sentences (“Of course . . . measu
blondinia [14]

Answer:

B. The fifth sentence elaborates on an assertion made in the preceding sentence.

Explanation:

Answer B

Correct. In the fourth sentence, the authors make a claim about the role of mathematics in the sciences, asserting that “the more [mathematics] can be applied usefully within a science, the more advanced the science.” The fifth sentence begins with the conjunction “For,” which is commonly used to introduce reasoning that explains or clarifies an earlier statement. And indeed, the fifth sentence does explain why the application of mathematics helps advance a science: because mathematics functions as both a precise language and a means of measurement.

2.5x + y = -2 ; 3x + 2y = 0
Mariana [72]
Looking at this, I think the easiest (personally) way to solve it would be using the Substitution method.
Meaning we have to rearrange ONE equation, to make ONE variable ( x or y) the subject.
(1)  2.5x + y = -2
(2)  3x +2y = 0

The first equation is the easiest to rearrange. Make Y the subject for (1).
Thus,
y = -2.5x - 2
Substitute this into equation (2).
∴ 3x + 2(-2.5x - 2) = 0
Expand and simplify:
3x - 5x - 4 = 0
∴ -2x - 4 = 0
Making x the subject:
-2x = 4
x = -2
From here, we need to substitute x=-2 into equation (1) or (2) to solve for the y-value. I would say the easiest way, would be to rearrange one, to make y the subject, which was what we did earlier.
Thus,
y = -2.5x - 2
y = ((-2.5(-2) -2)
y = 3
(X,Y) x = -2, y = 3
Answer: (-2,3)

I hope you followed through.

if an earthquake occurs in the interior of South America, what can be inferred about the geology of that area?
Shalnov [3]
I believe since south America has so much of ancient lands it will get destroyed depends how strong the earthquake is plus since south america is located by the water, it could mean a huge tsunami hitting north america. It is possible that could happen.

Hope this helped :)
