When the AIDS crisis emerged in the early 1980s

The Reagan Administration was slow to respond.

The Reagan Administration, and the country generally, gave a slow response when the AIDS crisis emerged in the United States in the 1980s. It was seen then as a plague that affected the homosexual community. Some on the religious right felt it was God's justice to punish homosexuals in that way.

A book you might check out on this subject is: <em>And the Band Played On: Politics, People, and the AIDS Epidemic, </em>by Randy Shilts of the San Francisco Chronicle, first published in 1987. A 20th anniversary edition of the book was republished in 2007.

Which idea would william Graham Sumner most likely support?
balu736 [363]
Good Morning!

Graham Sumner is known for his tendencies to defend extreme freedom. Socialism prevents this perspective because it plans the economy. Manifest destiny prevents this perspective because it defends a kind of determinism and the Gospel of Wealth ends up falling into the same mistakes. Sumner would be closer to the idea of "Laissez-faire," since he is also known as a type of libertarian and would therefore defend the free market.

Grace [21]
"<span>During the Spanish-American War, Filipino rebels led by Emilio Aguinaldo proclaim the independence of the Philippines after 300 years of Spanish rule.
