What mass of iron(III) chloride contains 4.13 1023 chloride ions?

Chemistry
1 answer:
svet-max [94.6K]3 years ago
4 0

Answer:

37.3g

Explanation:

Formula of the compound:

          FeCl₃

Number of chloride ions  =  4.13 x 10²³ ions

First find the number of moles in this ions;

         6.02 x 10²³ ions are contained in 1 mole of a substance

         4.13 x 10²³ ions contains \frac{4.13 x 10^{23} }{6.02 x 10^{23} }  = 0.69mole chloride ions

Now;

        3 mole of chloride ions are contained in 1 mole of FeCl₃

       0.69 mole of chloride ions will contain \frac{0.69}{3} = 0.23mole of FeCl₃

To find the mass;

         Mass of FeCl₃ = number of moles x molar mass

 molar mass of FeCl₃ = 55.8 + 3(35.5)  = 162.3g/mol

        Mass of FeCl₃ = 0.23  x  162.3  = 37.3g

How many molecules of carbon dioxide are present in 4.81042 mol of that substance?
Korvikt [17]

1 mol is equal to 6.02×10∧23 molecules.

first put in the calculator 4.81042 × 6.02 then hit EXP or 2nd then EE. (Depends on the type of calculator). then put in 23 and press equal.

The calculator will says 2.89587284×10∧24.

So the answer will be 2.90×10∧24.

I mot sure if the 2.90 is correct but it is close to the answer. it really depends how you want to round it. As long as the decimals are close the answer doesn't matter. Hope this helps. Please mark as Brainliest.

These steps are followed when using the half-life of carbon-14 to determine
erastovalidia [21]

Answer:

B. C, A, B

Explanation:

We can measure the age of an artifact by comparison of the activities a living sample with that of the artifact. This is so because the activity of the living sample represents the original activity of the artifact.

So, the steps involved in determining the age of an artifact is to measure the ratio of the parent and daughter nuclei. Then we use the half life of carbon to find out how many half lives have passed. Using this number of half lives that has passed, we can compute the age of the object.

Compounds with high melting points have _____
solong [7]

Answer:

C) Ionic bonds

Explanation:

The ionic bonds are the strongest bond, it occurs when a metal donates electrons and a nonmetal gain these electrons. They'll be together by electrostatic force.

Metallic bonds it the second strongest bond, it occurs between metals, which loses electrons. It's an electrostatic force, but weaker than the ionic compound because it occurs between the cation and the electron.

Covalent bonds are the weakest bond. It happens between metals and nonmetals, or nonmetals and hydrogen or between atoms of hydrogen. The force that joins the atoms depends on the polarity of the molecule. Polar molecules have dipole forces, nonpolar molecules, induced dipole forces. Also, hydrogen makes special dipole forces with nitrogen, oxygen, and fluorine, called hydrogen bond.

As the stronger is the force, as difficult it will be to break it. So, ionic bonds will demand more energy to become gas, and have high melting points.
