Javascript or java? which one is better?

See, one is more or less a toy, designed for writing small pieces of code and traditionally used and abused by inexperienced programmers.

The other is a scripting language for web browsers. Sorry about my limited knowledge.

Java is a really powerful language compared to JavaScript. Java can be used for various devices and platforms but JavaScript is web based and it can also be used for animation. If you are starting off you could use JavaScript but I prefer Python.
