Answer:

Cancer cells such as Hela cells escape to normal cell cycle by mutations that lead to the misexpression and/or overexpression of regulatory molecules (e.g., cyclins and cyclin-dependent kinases) and faulty checkpoint control of the cell cycle

Explanation:

The term cell cycle refers to the mechanism of DNA replication and cell division, which involves a series of sequential steps. The control of the cell cycle depends on 1-cyclins and cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) that regulate the cell cycle by a cascade of protein phosphorylations and 2- a group of checkpoint controls that monitor the completion of critical cellular events. HeLa is an immortalized cell line derived from cervical cancer cells. These cells (HeLa) contain 76 to 80 total chromosomes (instead of the 46 chromosomes that contain normal-diploid body cells), some of which are heavily mutated. These mutations can affect CDKs that control the cell cycle as well as checkpoint-control mechanisms (for example, those resulting from DNA damage), thereby cells do not enter programmed cell death (apoptosis) and proliferate uncontrollably.

Which of the following is a barrier against pathogens provided by the skin?
Alexxandr [17]

Answer:

Low pH

Explanation:

The skin has sebaceous glands that secrete sebum. Sebum makes a protective layer over the surface of the skin and imparts it an acidic pH due to the presence of fatty acids in it.

Mostly, the pH level of skin is maintained within the range of 3-5 (acidic) which in turn serves as one of the barriers against pathogen provided by skin. Likewise, sweat glands of skin secrete sweat which also imparts the acidic pH to the skin to prevent any infection.

In 20 to 25 words each, describe how socialization occurs in each of the following developmental periods:
lisov135 [29]

Answer:

During their childhood, kids learn about the world that surrounds them when going through 3 different phases regarding their body parts, and taking contact with their family and school; when puberty strikes, the learning shifts towards the teen's peer group and their chosen role models to create new patterns in behaviour and find themselves (adolescence). Once the individual enters adulthood and establish his/her personality, can form strong and intimate relationships with friends and romantic partners (transitional adulthood). When reaching the middle years, the person needs to contribute to society in some way to feel productive, like raising children or helping his/her community. Finally, during the older years, humans tend to reflect on their lives and accomplishments to develop a sense of either integrity or despair.
