Remember that this question, and probably whatever reading it's associated with, features quite an over-generalization, and boiling different demographic groups, such as minorities or churchgoers, down to their "issue" not only oversimplifies the priorities and beliefs of these groups, but also assumes that all people of a demographic group feel the same way about an issue.
