Discuss velocity by providing at least one example and explain why velocity is either a scalar or vector quantity.
grandymaker [24]
Velocity is speed plus direction, so an example of velocity would be a vehicle traveling at 75mph north. Velocity is a vector quantity because it describes both magnitude and direction.

(4%) Problem 10: The standard frequency of the musical pitch called "middle C" is 261.6 Hz. show answer No Attempt How fast, in
bearhunter [10]

Answer:

16.77 m/s

Explanation:

Given that

Frequency of middle pitch, Fo = 261.6 Hz

Frequency of C sharp, f = 277.2 Hz

Velocity of sound in air, v = 298 m/s

Speed of sound from the source, Vs = ? m/s

Using the formula

f = Fo•(V + Vr)/(V + Vs)

← Doppler

Vr would be +ve if the receiver is moving toward source;

Vs would be -ve if source is moving toward the receiver

277.2 Hz = 261.6Hz * (298 + 0) / (298 - Vs)

277.2 = 77956.8 / (298 - Vs)

298 - Vs = 77956.8 / 277.2

298 - Vs = 281.23

Vs = 298 - 281.23

Vs = 16.77 m/s

Thus, the speed needed is 16.77 m/s

Is time the fourth dimension?
Gre4nikov [31]
True

in physics the dimensions of space are:
1. Height
2. Width
3. Depth
4. Time
5. Kaluza - this is the combination of gravity and electromagnetism
6.-10. Other theories
11. The M-theory.

As the current studies suggest, the theory of everything or M-theory claims that there are currently 11 dimensions in the universe, unique for each world and that our word is but the complexities of strings.

A boy is exerting a force of 70 N at a 50-degree angle on a lawn mower. He is accelerating at 1.8 m/s2. Round the answers to the
loris [4]

Answer:

The mass of the lawn mower is 25 kg

The normal force exerted on the lawn mower is 299 N

Explanation:

The boy is exerting a force of 70 N at a 50-degree angle on a lawn mower

We must to distribute the for into two component

→ Horizontal component in direction of motion

→ Vertical component acting down ward

The angle between the exerting force and the lawn mower which is

horizontal

→ The horizontal component = 70 cos(50) in direction of motion

→ The vertical component = 70 sin(50) down ward

Due to Newton's Law;

→ ∑ Force in direction of motion = mass × acceleration

→ F = 70 cos(50) , acceleration = 1.8 m/s²

Substitute these values in the rule above

→ 70 cos(50) = mass × 1.8

Divide both side by 1.8

→ mass = 25 kg

The mass of the lawn mower is 25 kg

The normal force R is exerted on the lawn mower is vertically upward

The weight of the lawn mower and the vertical component of the

exerted force acting downward

→ ∑ The vertical forces = 0

→ ∑ vertical forces = R - 70 sin(50) - mg, mg is the weight of the

 lawn mower

→ R - 70 sin(50) - 25(9.8) = 0

→ R - 53.62 - 245 = 0

→ R - 289.62 = 0

Add 289.62 to both sides

→ R = 289.62 ≅ 299 N

The normal force exerted on the lawn mower is 299 N
