Air is heated at steady state as it flows through a constant area duct. At the inlet, the pressure is 2 bar, the temperature is

300 K and the velocity is 87 m/s. At the exit, the pressure is 1.45 bar and the velocity is 360 m/s. Neglecting potential energy effects and assuming ideal gas behavior for the air, determine the heat transfer per unit mass of air (qcv) flowing through the duct, in kJ/kg.

Answer:

Heat transfer  q = 664015.5 J/kg (Approx)

Explanation:

Given:

Area = a

Velocity flow rate Q1 = 87a m³/s

Velocity flow rate Q2 = 360a m³/s

Find:

Heat transfer = q

Computation:

[P1][v1]/T1 = [P2][v2]/T2

[2][(87a]/300 = [1.45][360a] / T2

T2 = 900 K

Heat transfer  q = Cp(T2 - T1) + (V2² /2 - V1² /2 )

Heat transfer  q = 1,005(900 - 300) + (360² /2 - 87² /2)

Heat transfer  q = 664015.5 J/kg (Approx)

A 5.0-m long, 12-kg uniform ladder rests against a smooth vertical wall with the bottom of the ladder 3.0 m from the wall. the c
Semmy [17]

First establish the summation of the forces acting int the ladder

Forces in the x direction Fx = 0 = force of friction (Ff) – normal force in the wall(n2)

Forces in the y direction Fy =0 = normal force in floor (n1) – (12*9.81) –( 60*9.81)

So n1 = 706.32 N

Since Ff = un1 = 0.28*706.32 = 197,77 N = n2

Torque balance along the bottom of the ladder = 0 = n2(4 m) – (12*9.81*2.5 m) – (60*9.81 *x m)

X = 0.844 m

5/ 3 = h/ 0.844

H = 1.4 m can the 60 kg person climb berfore the ladder will slip

A car is stopped at a traffic light. It then travels along a straight road so that its distance from the light is given by x(t)=
True [87]

Answer:

(a) average velocity = 17.6 m/s

(b) when t = 0, v = 0

    when t = 4, v = 19.2 m/s

    when t = 8, v = 28.8 m/s

(c) after starting from rest, the car will be at rest again in 20 s

Explanation:

Given;

x(t)=bt²−ct³, substitute the given values and the equation will become;

x(t)=3t²−0.1t³

(a)average velocity = total distance / total time

total distance, x(t) = 3t²−0.1t³

x(8) = 3t²−0.1t³

X(8) = 3(8)² - 0.1(8)³

X(8) = 140.8 m

total time = 8 s

average velocity = 140.8 / 8

average velocity = 17.6 m/s

(b) instantaneous velocity = dx / dt

dx / dt = 6t - 0.3t²

when t = 0

v = 0

when t = 4 s

v = 6(4) - 0.3(4²) = 19.2 m/s

when t = 8 s

v = 6(8) - 0.3(8²) = 28.8 m/s

(c) the velocity is zero at dx / dt = 0

6t - 0.3t² = 0

t(6 - 0.3t) = 0

t = 0    or  6 - 0.3t = 0

t = 0     or   0.3t = 6

t = 0      or   t = 6 / 0.3

t= 0       or    t =  20 s

After starting from rest, the car will be at rest again in 20 s

an ice cube is placed in the sun later there is a puddle of water later still the.puddle is gone what kind of change has occured
TiliK225 [7]

Clear question is;

An ice cube is placed in the sun. Later there is a puddle of water. Later still the puddle is gone. What kind of change has occurred?

Answer:

Physical change.

Explanation:

There are two type of changes called physical change and chemical change.

In Physical changes, there is only change in the appearance of the substance and not its chemical composition. Whereas, in Chemical changes the substance changes entirely into another substance with a new chemical formula.

Now, for the ice cube, it has melted from a solid state to a liquid state. Thus, there is only a change in appearance and not its chemical composition. Thus, it's a physical change that has occurred.
