Answer:

<u>6</u><u>.</u>

We know that Christine hiked Evergreen Trail twice and the Yellow River trail once. Also, that Brian hiked each of the three largest trails once. We are asked to find how many more miles Brian hiked than Christina.

<u>7</u><u>.</u>

Before we answer the final question, we need to know how long these trails are.

<u>8</u><u>.</u>

<em><u>Christine</u></em>

Evergreen: 4 3/4 × 2 = 6 3/4

Yellow River: 5 1/4 × 1 = 6 1/4

<em><u>Brian</u></em>

Hillcrest: 6 × 1 = 6

Yellow River: 5 1/4 × 1 = 6 1/4

Evergreen: 4 3/4 × 1 = 5 3/4

<u>9</u><u>.</u><u> </u>

<u>Christine's</u><u> </u><u>total</u><u> </u><u>miles</u><u> </u><u>=</u><u> </u><u>1</u><u>3</u>

<u>Brian's</u><u> </u><u>total</u><u> </u><u>miles</u><u> </u><u>=</u><u> </u><u>1</u><u>9</u>

To find the difference, we subtract the highest number by the smallest one.

So,

<em> </em>

<em>1</em><em>9</em><em> </em><em>-</em><em> </em><em>1</em><em>3</em><em> </em><em>=</em><em> </em><em>6</em>

<u>1</u><u>0</u><u>.</u>

This answer makes sense because Brian in fact did walk more miles than Christine and if you add 6 to 13 you get 19, or you can subtract 6 from 19 and get 13. This is a way to check that the answer is correct.

Answer:

6. I know that Christine hiked the Evergeen trail twice and the Yellow River trail once. I also know that Brian hiked the three longest trails once. I am asked to find how many more miles did Brian hike than Christine. I do not need to know that the family is staying at the state park for a week.

7. I need to find out how many miles Christine hiked and how many miles Brian hiked.

8. C = Christine's total

   B = Brian's total

(4 3/4 x 2) + 5 1/4 = C

6 + 5 1/4 + 4 3/4 = B

9. (4 3/4 x 2) + 5 1/4

    (19/4 x 2) + 5 1/4

    19/2 + 5 1/4

     9 1/2 + 5 1/4

      C = 14 3/4

  6 + 5 1/4 + 4 3/4

  5 4/4 + 5 1/4 + 4 3/4

      <u> </u>B = 16

   <u> </u>16 - 14 3/4 <u>= 5 1/2</u>

10. It makes sense because Brian three of the longest trails while Christine didn't

2x-4/5=4<br> plsss answer quick
nikdorinn [45]

Answer:

<h2>x = 12</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{2x - 4}{5}  =4

First of all multiply through by 5 to eliminate the fraction

That's

5 \times  \frac{2x - 4}{5}  = 4 \times 5 \\ 2x - 4 = 20

Next using the addition property add 4 to both sides of the equation

We have

2x - 4 + 4 = 20 + 4 \\ 2x = 24

<u>Divide both sides by 2</u>

\frac{2x}{2}  =  \frac{24}{2}

We have the final answer as

<h3>x = 12</h3>

Hope this helps you

A hiker approximates an angle of elevation to the top of a hill to be 22 degrees. After walking 700 feet closer, the hiker notic
worty [1.4K]

Answer:

The height of the hill =  h = 580.7 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Let height of the hill = h

From the triangle A B D

Tan 22 = \frac{AB}{BD}

⇒ AB = h &  B D = y + 700

⇒ Tan 22 =  \frac{h}{y + 700} ------------(1)

From triangle ABC

Tan 38 = \frac{AB}{BC}

⇒ AB = h & BC = y

⇒ Tan 38 = \frac{h}{y} ------------------(2)

⇒ h = y tan 38 -----------------(3)

Put the value of h from equation (3) into equation (1) we get

⇒  (tan 22) × (y + 700) = y × tan 38

⇒ 0.40 y + 282.82 = y × 0.78

⇒ y = 742.12 feet -----------------(4)

Put this value of y in equation 3 we get

⇒ h = 742.12 × tan 38

⇒ h = 580.7 feet

This is the height of the hill.
