It has four stages,
1- <u>Prophase</u>: The chromosomes are condensed into the X-shaped structures that can be easily seen under a microscope.
2- <u>Metaphase:</u> The chromosomes come end-to-end at the center (equator) of the cell.
3- <u>Anaphase:</u> In this Phase, The sister chromatids are pulled apart by the mitotic spindle to the opposite poles. One spindle fiber pull a chromosome to one pole and other spindle fiber to the other pole.
4- <u>Telophase:</u> At each pole of the cell a full set of chromosomes gather together.
