Answer:Translate word phrases into algebraic expressions

Write an algebraic expression that represents the relationship between two measurements such as length and width or the amount of different types of coins

Translate Words to Algebraic Expressions

In the previous section, we listed many operation symbols that are used in algebra, and then we translated expressions and equations into word phrases and sentences. Now we’ll reverse the process and translate word phrases into algebraic expressions. The symbols and variables we’ve talked about will help us do that.

Suppose a normal distribution has a mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 3. What is P(x≤53)?
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the formula to find the z-score, then go to the table that will give you the probability that the value is less than this z-score.

z=\frac{53-50}{3}=1

The probability that the value lies to the left of 1 on a standard bell curve is 84.1345%, or 84%, the third choice down.

The length of a rectangular prism is 8
Lena [83]
Surface area is:

W=width
L=length
H=height

S=2*(L*W+L*H+W*H)

replacing the values

250=2*(8*W+8*1+W*1)

250=2*(8*W+8+W)

250=2*(9*W+8)

dived each member by 2

125=9W+8

9W=125-8

9W=117

\boxed{\boxed{W=13~unit~of~measure}}

The volume of a rectangular prism is

V=L*H*W

V=8*1*13

\boxed{\boxed{V=104~unit~of~volume}}

How do you find the volume inside the cylinder but outside the sphere? H=12cm.
Mrrafil [7]
Apparently, there is a sphere inside a cylinder, and we need to find
(the volume of the cylinder) minus (the volume of the sphere).

This wouldn't be too awfully difficult if we had the measurements we need
in order to calculate the volume of the cylinder and the volume of the sphere.
You did give us a number, thank you, but no description, so we don't even know
what's 12, because we don't know how 'H' figures into anything.

If you have the numbers, here are the formulas you'll need:

Volume of a cylinder = π (radius)² (height or length)

Volume of a sphere = (4/3) π (radius)³
===============================================
Oh I think I get it.  There's a little ball stuck inside a cylinder, they
both have the same radius, and the height of the cylinder is 12.

That's still not enough information to do a complete calculation.
I'm afraid we still need that radius.  But we can get closer:

Volume of the cylinder = π (radius)² (12)

Volume of the sphere = (4/3) π (radius)³

(Cylinder) minus (sphere) = (4/3) π (radius²) ( 9 - radius ) .

Stuff the number for the radius into that, and you'll have the answer.

And if you need it, remember, the radius is 1/2 of the diameter.
