The slope is basically the rate of change in which it describes how steep the line is. The y-intercept is a point in the graph in which a point crosses the y axis.

The slope and the y-intercept is connected with the formula y=mx+b, where b is the y intercept and mx is the slope. With this equation, you can graph by first putting your y-intercept (b) in the graph, remember that the y-intercept has x as 0, for example (0,4) or (0,12). After that, all you have to do to complete the line is to use the slope by plugging the x to the slope and adding the y-intercept.

Now you might have a little idea of what is the slope and y-intercept, and might still be confused on certain things, so ill give an example.

ex) you are given the formula y=2x+4 and you are asked to graph it

step 1) you take the b, which is 4 and put it in the graph, knowing the the point is (0,4) because b is the y-intercept, which means that x=0.

step 2) take a random x point on the xaxis and plug it in the formula, then you add the b (4), lets say x=2

so it will become 2(2) +4 = 6, so when x=2, y is 6.

Now you have found 2 points, (0,4) and (2,6), all you have to do is plug it in the graph.
