Prithviraj Chauhan was a king from the Chauhan dynasty from 1178 to 1192 CE. He ruled Sapadalaksha, the traditional Chahamana territory, which is present-day north-western India. In the beginning of his career, Prithviraj achieved military victory against several Hindu kingdoms present in their neighborhood. He also repulsed the early invasions by Muhammad of Ghor, who is a ruler of the Muslim Ghurid dynasty.
