If a small air-gap was made in the iron core of a transformer, thereby increasing the reluctance of the magnetic circuit, what e

Vect would it have on the following:
A. The no-load current, with the primary supplied at rated voltage.
B. The magnetising reactance.
C. The secondary voltage.

Answer:

a) No-Load Current will increase

b) The magnetising reactance will increase

c) The secondary voltage will decrease

Explanation:

a) when an air ap is made in the transformer core then more current is required for the magnetisation of core. Hence, no-load current will incraese.

b) with the air gap the magnetomotive force increases. As a result, the angle between the voltage and current increases. Consequently, power factor decreases. Power factor always decreases when the reactive behaviour of circuit incraeses. Hence, Magnetisation reactance will increase.

c) Secondary voltage decreases due to air gap. Therefore, it is said that with the air gap the efficiency of the transformer decreases.

Suppose you increase your walking speed from 4m/s to 12m/s in a period of 1 s. What is your acceleration?
den301095 [7]
We use the following formula to determine our acceleration:
acceleration = \frac{(final velocity) - (initial velocity)}{time} = \frac{change of velocity}{time}
We normally use letters in this formula, which gives us:
a = \frac{v}{t}

Filling in this formula gives us:
Δv (change of velocity) = 12 - 4 = 8 m/s
t = 1s
a = \frac{8}{1} = 8 m/s^2
So our answer: the acceleration is 8m/ s^{2}

An electric motor and a single-fixed pulley work together to lift a 1,000 kg crate 50.0 m. How much work was done?
bekas [8.4K]

Answer:

 C) 500,000 J

Explanation:

The change in potential energy is ...

 Mgh = (1000 kg)(9.8 m/s^2)(50 m) = 490,000 J . . . . roughly matches C

_____

Comments on the problem

The efficiency of the motor is unknown, so the amount of energy spent as heat is unknown.

In the equation above, we have used M for mass, and m for meters. The acceleration due to gravity is approximately 9.8 m/s^2, varying depending on location and height above the Earth. The "standard" value for g will add a few more joules to this value, but will not make it 500,000.
