The daily dose for a patient that weighs 170 pounds is 510 milligrams.

60 milligrams/ 20 pounds = x milligrams/ 170 pounds cross multiply

10200= 20x divide by 20 on both sides

x= 510 milligrams

you would have to do 170/20 which equals 8.5 multiply that by 8

so his daily does would be 510 milligrams

Suppose P(A) = 0.9, P(B) = 0.3, and P(B|A) = 0.2. What is P(A|B) ?
Elenna [48]

By definition of conditional probability,

P(B\mid A)=\dfrac{P(B\cap A)}{P(A)}\implies P(B\cap A)=0.2\cdot0.9=0.18

Similarly,

P(A\mid B)=\dfrac{P(A\cap B)}{P(B)}=\dfrac{0.18}{0.3}=0.6

Question 4 Multiple Choice Worth 4 points)
Semmy [17]

Answer:

Question No 4

The equation will be: y=-\frac{1}{2}x+11

Option B is correct answer.

Question No 5

The equation will be: y=\frac{3}{4}x+4

Option A is correct answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

Question 4

The option equations are in slope intercept forms, so we will write equation in slope intercept form.

The general equation of slope intercept form is: y=mx+b where m is slope and b is y-intercept

Finding Slope:

Using the point (2,10) and (4,9) we can find slope

The formula used is: Slope=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Putting values and finding slope:

Slope=\frac{9-10}{4-2}\\Slope=-\frac{1}{2}

So, we get slope m = - 1/2

Finding y-intercept

Using point (2,10) and slope m =1/2 we can find y-intercept

y=mx+b\\10=-\frac{1}{2}(2)+b\\10=-1+b\\b=10+1\\b=11

So, equation will be:

y=mx+b\\y=-\frac{1}{2}x+11

Option B is correct answer.

Question 5

The option equations are in slope intercept forms, so we will write equation in slope intercept form.

The general equation of slope intercept form is: y=mx+b where m is slope and b is y-intercept

Finding Slope:

Using the point (0,4) and (4,7) from the graph we can find slope

The formula used is: Slope=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Putting values and finding slope:

Slope=\frac{7-4}{4-0}\\Slope=\frac{3}{4}

So, we get slope m = 3/4

Finding y-intercept

Using point (0.4) and slope m = 3/4 we can find y-intercept

y=mx+b\\4=\frac{3}{4}(0)+b\\4=0+b\\b=4

So, equation will be:

y=mx+b\\y=\frac{3}{4}x+4

Option A is correct answer.

What is the focus of the parabola given by the equation (y − 3)^2 = 8(x − 5)? A. (-7, 3) B. (-5, 3) C. (5, 3) D. (7, 3) E. (3, -
nasty-shy [4]

\bf \textit{parabola vertex form with focus point distance} \\\\ \begin{array}{llll} \boxed{4p(x- h)=(y- k)^2} \\\\ 4p(y- k)=(x- h)^2 \end{array} \qquad  \begin{array}{llll} vertex\ ( h, k)\\\\  p=\textit{distance from vertex to }\\ \qquad \textit{ focus or directrix} \end{array}\\\\ -------------------------------\\\\ (y-3)^2=8(x-5)\implies (y-\stackrel{k}{3})^2=4(\stackrel{p}{2})(x-\stackrel{h}{5})\qquad  vertex~(5,3)

let's notice, the squared variable is the "y", and therefore is a horizontal parabola, with a vertex as you see at 5,3.

the coefficient of the y² is positive, meaning it opens to right-hand-side.

the "p" distance is 2 units, since it's opening to the right, is positive 2.

so from the vertex at 5,3 we move to the right 2 units, to land at (7, 3).
