The central purpose of the Law of April 6, 1830, was to obstruct immigration from the United States to Texas. It's generally believed that the Law of April 6 1830, sparked the Texas Revolution because of its laws and regulations. The law came as a result of advice and information from Manuel de Mier y Terán. Under this law, European and Mexican immigration was encouraged. Custom duties put on all goods entering Texas from the United States and slavery banned.
