rmigan has brown feathers. In the winter months, the Ptarmigan has white feathers. This color change allows the Ptarmigan to blend into its surroundings, no matter the season. What causes this color change to occur?

They change their color so they wouln't be spotted by predators. Its like a self defence meckanisum ( i dont knwo how to spell) so they wouldn't get caught.
