The ratio of the total number of coins to the number of nickels.

Solution:

We have,

Number of nickels = 6

Number of dimes = 14

Number of quarter = 8

Total number of coins = 6+14+8

                                     = 28

Now, the ratio of the total number of coins to the number of nickels is

$Ratio=\dfrac{\text{Total number of coins}}{\text{Number of nickels}}$

$Ratio=\dfrac{28}{6}$

$Ratio=\dfrac{14}{3}$

$Ratio=14:3$

Therefore, the  ratio of the total number of coins to the number of nickels is 14:3.
