Ergogenic aids, as the latter word (aid) implies, is any substance, drug, device, taken by individuals with the aim of increasing the capacity for work output through eliminating fatigue and improving recovery from tedious tasks. Some examples of ergogenic aids include ephedrine, caffeine, creatine, anabolic steroids. They are used for the treatment of some health problems and they are also used by athletes (some are banned substances in some sports).

Pros of using ergogenic aids

1. It can be used to treat some health conditions.

2. Ergogenic acids, for example, steroids increase muscle activity during exercise and decrease fatigue.

3. Increase muscle mass, increase bodily strength and power .

4. Gives a competitive edge to individuals who use it over others in sports.

Cons of using ergogenic aids

1. High doses could have an adverse effect on consumer health which include: central nervous system and kidney damage.

2. It can increase the level of aggression in consumers which is not good especially in sports.

3. Anabolic steroids  could also affect the potency of sperm cells, sperm production in males, and could also disrupt the menstrual cycle in females.

4. Long term use could lead to seizures and liver damage.

The best test would be a BMI. Hydrostatic weighing would just find their weight and wouldn't tell the doctor anything about the specific amount of fat on the body. There is no such thing as an MRK, and the Caliper test is a personality test. I hope this helps!
