\sqrt{x+13}=7\\

To solve the radical equation, completing the square all whole equation.

(\sqrt{x+13})^2=7^2\\

As defined, (\sqrt{x})^2 =|x|

Therefore, (\sqrt{x+13})^2=|x+13|=x+13  (Although Absolute Function gives 2 conditions, however - domain of radical function must be greater than or equal to 0. Meaning x < 0 for another condition doesn't apply.)

x+13=49\\x=49-13

Move 13 to subtract.

x=36

Therefore, the answer is x = 36.

Answer:

x = 36

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

\sqrt{x+13} = 7 ( square both sides )

(\sqrt{x+13} )² = 7²

x + 13 = 49 ( subtract 13 from both sides )

x = 36

Dana is purchasing a new car that costs $24,650. Although Dana will be financing her car, she must pay sales tax, title, and tag
telo118 [61]

Dana must pay $1238.75 upfront.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Cost of car = $24,650

Sales tax = 3.5%

Amount of sales tax = 3.5% of cost of car

Amount of sales tax = \frac{3.5}{100}*24650

Amount of sales tax = \frac{86275}{100}=\$862.75

Amount of title and tag fees = $376

Total upfront amount = Amount of sales tax + Amount of title and tag fees

Total upfront amount = 862.75+376 = $1238.75

Dana must pay $1238.75 upfront.

A pipe is leaking at 1.5 cups per day. how many gallons per week is the pipe leaking?
ASHA 777 [7]
Since there is 16 cups in a US gallon, and there is 7 days in a week. First, you would multiply 1.5 times 7 getting 10.5 cups. But since that is not enough cups to be a gallon the division equation would look like this, 10.5/16 = ?. You can simplify it down to 5.25/8. Then, you get your answer of 0.65625 gallons.
