Jenny has just started working on a 250 piece jigsaw puzzle. She usually takes 3 hours to work a puzzle of that size. Her little

brother wants to help. He could put the puzzle together in 6 hours. How much time would the two need to work the puzzle together? (Round your answer to the nearest tenth.)

You need to figure out the rates at which they both work.

For Jenny, its 250 pieces / 3 hours = 83.3 pieces / hour
For her brother, its 250 pieces / 6 hours = 41.7 pieces / hour

so together, that adds up to 125 pieces / hour.

(125 pieces / hour) = (1/125) hours / piece
(1/125) hours / piece * 250 pieces = 2 hours because the pieces on the top and bottom cancel

so the answer is 2 hours

Jenny: 250 pieces / 3 hours = 83.3 pieces per hour

Brother: 250 pieces / 6 hours = 41.7 pieces per hour

83.3 + 41.7 = 125 pieces per hour total

250 pieces / 125 = 2 hours total

Match this median concurrent proof

Lapatulllka [165]

Answer:

E. (You always start with the given statement)

C.

A.

D.

B.

Step-by-step explanation:

The first line is given and therefore goes with E. Given.

The second line comes from the definition of median.

It bisects the opposite side from the vertex is being drawn from: So we have FA=FB, BE=EC, and CG=GA.

Second box goes with C.

Third line says FA/FB=1, BE/EC=1, and CG/GA=1.

How did they get this. It looks like they divided previous equation on both sides by right hand side's expression.

For example:

FA=FB

Divide both sides by FB you get:

FA/FB=FB/FB

FA/FB=1

So third line goes with A.

The fourth line is substitution property. 1=1(1)(1)=1(FA/FB)(BE/EC)(CG/GA). They replaced the 1's with what we had in the previous line.

Fifth line is Ceva's Theorem since it states that the FA:FB=BE:EC=CG:GA=1 implies the medians are concurrent.
