If a blood cell is placed into a solution of 10M salt (highly salty) what would you expect to occur?
steposvetlana [31]
The blood cell will lose water and will undergo lysis.

Cell membrane is permeable to water and can get/lose water via osmosis. Osmosis is induced by the gradient of concentration of the solution. In this case, the 10M salt solution has a very high oncotic pressure that it will attract nearby water. That means the water inside the cells will be taken into the solution and cell will continue to shrink and then die.

In this mechanism enzyme dicer cuts DSRNA into smaller fragments called SIRNA which form a complex with RISC in degrees specific
scZoUnD [109]
I believe the correct answer is mRNA.  Dicer is a part of RNase III which leaves double stranded RNA and pre-microRNA into short double stranded RNA fragments called small interfering RNA and microRNA respectively. The Dicer facilitates the activation of RNA induced silencing complex (RISC), which are essential for RNA interference. The RISC has a catalytic component argonate, which is an endonuclease capable of degrading mRNA. siRNAs are specfic to the mRNA sequence unlike miRNAs which are not completely complementary to the mRNA sequence.

Why are enzymes specific to a certain reaction?
frozen [14]
Enzymes bind with chemical reactants called substrates. There may be one or more substrates for each type of enzyme, depending on the particular chemical reaction. In some reactions, a single-reactant substrate is broken down into multiple products. ... The enzyme's active site binds to the substrate.
