If one number is five more than another number, and the smaller number is half of the larger number, what are the two numbers?
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

Larger number = 10

Smaller number = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

Let larger number be x

Let smaller number be y

x = 5 + y---> equation (i)

y = \frac{1}{2} x

x = 2y-----> equation (ii)

Equate equation (i) and (ii),

5 + y = 2y

Move variable to L.H.S and change its sign:

Similarly, Move constant to R.H.S and change its sign

y - 2y = - 5

- y = - 5

The difference sign (-) will be cancelled on both sides

y = 5

Putting the value of y in equation (ii) in order to find the value of X ( larger number)

x = 2y

Plug the value of y

= 2 \times 5

Calculate the product

= 10

Hence,

Smaller number = 5

Larger number = 10

Hope this helps..

Best regards!!

Graph the line passing through the given point and having the given slope. Give the slope intercept form of the equation of the
shutvik [7]
Equation of the line is y=mx+b
the line passing through point (1;-2) so x=1 y=-2
m=-0.5 so put all these values in equetion and found value of b
-2=-0.5*1+b
-2=-0.5+b
b=-1.5
so equation of the line is y=-0.5x-1.5
Answer:
equation of the line is y=-0.5x-1.5

The school orchestra sells snacks at their concerts to raise money. At the spring concert they made 9/8 as much money as they ma
valina [46]

Answer:

They made more at the spring concert because at the fall concert, they made 9/8 LESS then the spring concert. At the spring concert, they said they made 9/8 AS MUCH money. That indicates that they made more at the spring concert than the fall concert

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Amount of money made by School Orchestra at the fall concert=$ x

Then, Amount of money made by School Orchestra at the Spring concert

=9/8 as much money as they made at their fall concert

= 9x/8

=1.125x

Since, $1.125 x > $x

So, they made more money at Spring concert than Fall Concert.
