Answer:

$10.31

Step-by-step explanation:

ok, so this is a simple addition problem involving decimals, and i wont lie, even I get thrown off by them sometimes, so i have a trick for when adding decimals, ESPECIALLY when dealing with money

firstly, since in all numbers we go back just to the .00 or the hundredths place behind the decimal, we can move the decimal out of the way by multiplying all three numbers by 100 as shown below

5.08 * 100 = 508

2.15 * 100 = 215

3.08 * 100 = 308

REMEMBER whatever change you make to make the problem easier to solve, by the time you get to the solution, you make a reverse change so you have the original amount

ok so now the numbers are a little easier to swallow, so lets start adding, so lets start with the two numbers that look a little easier to add, this may vary from person to person, but for me, adding like numbers is easier, as well as adding numbers with 0s in them, as it just so happens we can do both with these two numbers as shown

    508

+ 308

since 8 + 8 is a common problem, its easy for us to solve, wich is 16, and since theres no numbers in the tens place, we can just add the 1 from the 16 to the tens place, then we add the hundreds like so

    508

+ 308

    816

now we just add the remaining number by following simple addition rules

    816

+ 215

  1031

and thats our answer to those numbers, but were not done yet, since we multiplied by 100 at the beginning with all numbers, we must now reverse that by dividing by the same amount

1031 / 100 = 10.31

and thats how you can remove the decimal temporarily wile you solve an addition problem, comment any questions to this answer and ill be sure to look them all over

hope this helps you both now and in the long run :)

A seagull flying in the air over water drops a crab from a height of 45 feet. The distance the crab is from the water as it falls
jonny [76]
For the seagull to catch the crab, h(t)=g(t) so:

-16t^2+45=-13t+23 add 16t^2 to both sides

45=16t^2-13t+23 subtract 45 from both sides

16t^2-13t-22=0 using the quadratic equation:

t=(13±√1577)/32, since t>0

t=(13+√1577)/32 seconds

t≈1.65 seconds (to nearest hundredth of a second)

And the height that this occurs using either original equation is:

h((13+√1577)/32)≈1.59 ft (to nearest hundredth of a foot)

Suppose that we don't have a formula for g ( x ) g(x) but we know that g ( 1 ) = − 1 g(1)=-1 and g ' ( x ) = √ x 2 + 15 g′(x)=x2
dezoksy [38]

Answer:

g(0.9) ≈ -2.6

g(1.1) ≈ 0.6

For 1.1 the estimation is a bit too high and for 0.9 it is too low.

Step-by-step explanation:

For values of x near 1 we can estimate g(x) with t(x) = g'(1) (x-1) + g(1). Note that g'(1) = 1²+15 = 16, and for values near one g'(x) is increasing because x² is increasing for positive values. This means that the tangent line t(x) will be above the graph of g, and the estimates we will make are a bit too big for values at the right of 1, like 1.1, and they will be too low for values at the left like 0.9.

For 0.9, we estimate

g(0.9) ≈ 16* (-0.1) -1 = -2.6

g(1.1) ≈ 16* 0.1 -1 = 0.6
