Answer:

Number of Chicken Burritos purchased=7

Number of Cheesy Gordita Crunch purchased=6

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x be the number of Chicken Burritos  and y be the number of Cheesy Gordita Crunch.

Total number items purchased=13

Total cost of 13 items=$28.17

Cost of each Chicken Burritos=$1.89

Cost of each Cheesy Gordita Crunch=$2.49

We have to find number of each items purchased.

According to question

x+y=13.....(1)

1.89x+2.49y=28.17...(2)

Equation (1) multiply by 2.49 and  then subtract equation (2) from (1)

0.6x=4.2

x=\frac{4.2}{0.6}

x=7

Substitute x=7 in equation (1)

7+y=13

y=13-7=6

Number of Chicken Burritos purchased=7

Number of Cheesy Gordita Crunch purchased=6

A class consists of 12 boys and 12 girls. The teacher picks five students to present their work to the rest of the class
Varvara68 [4.7K]

Answer:

0.01863, yes preference

Step-by-step explanation:

given that a class consists of 12 boys and 12 girls. The teacher picks five students to present their work to the rest of the class  and says that the five students are being selected at random

Here selecting any 5 students from the group of total 24 students is combination because order does not matter.

Total no of ways of selecting any 5 from total 24 = 24C5\\=42504

No of ways of selecting only 5 girls = No of ways of selecting random 5 girls from total 12 girls

= 12C5\\=792

a) the probability be that all five students

selected are girls=\frac{792}{42504} \\=0.01863

b) Since the probability for selecting all girls is very small and near to 0, it is unusual to select all girls if done at random.  Hence the teacher had a preference for girls.

At a recent marathon, spectators lined the street near the starting line to cheer for the runners. The crowd lined up 5 feet dee
masha68 [24]

Answer:

29568 people cheered for the runners at the start of the race

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, the crowd lined up 5 feet deep on both sides of the street for the first mile.

This lined up crowd could be related to a rectangle that is 1 mile long and 5 feet wide.

First, Convert 1 mile to feet

1 mile = 5280 feet

Hence, the length of the rectangle is 5280 feet and the width is 5 feet.

Now, we will determine how many 5 feet by 5 feet square we can get from the 5280 feet by 5 feet rectangle. To do that, we will divide 5280 feet by 5 feet

5280 feet ÷ 5 feet = 1056

Hence, from the rectangle, we can get 1056 5 feet by 5 feet square.

From the question, you estimate that 14 people can comfortably fit in a square that measures 5 feet by 5 feet,

∴ 14 × 1056 people will comfortably fit in the crowed lined up 5 feet deep on one side of the street for the first mile.

14 × 1056 = 14784 people

This is the amount of people that will comfortably fit in the crowed lined up 5 feet deep on one side of the street for the first mile.

Since the crowd lined up on both sides of the street, then

2 × 14784 people will comfortably fit in the crowed lined up 5 feet deep on both sides of the street for the first mile

2 × 14784 = 29568 people

Hence, 29568 people cheered for the runners at the start of the race.
