A galvanic cell is made up of solid In in 0.10 M In(NO3 )3 and solid Zn in 0.0050 M Zn(NO3 )2. The measured cell potential for t

his cell is 0.47 volts, when the zinc electrode operates as the anode. Find the standard reduction potential for: In3+ (aq) + 3e- → In(s) Given that Zn2+ + 2e- → Zn -0.76 V

Answer:

-0.303 V

Explanation:

From Nernst equation

[In3+] =0.10 M

[Zn2+]=Zn in 0.0050 M

n= 6

E= 0.47V

Thus

E= E°- 0.0592/n log [Red]/[Ox]

0.47= E° - 0.0592/6 log 0.10/0.0050

0.47= E° - 0.0128

E°= 0.47- 0.0128

E°= 0.457 V

But

E°cell= E° cathode- E°anode

E°cathode= E°cell + E°anode

Hence

E°cathode= 0.457 + ( -0.76)

E°cathode= -0.303 V

Given the reaction: solid sodium reacts with chlorine gas to form solid sodium chloride How many moles of the product result fro
lyudmila [28]

Answer:

number of moles of NaCl produce = 12 mol

Explanation:

Firstly, we need to write the chemical equation of the reaction and balance it .

Na(s) + Cl2(g) → NaCl(s)

The balanced equation is as follows:

2Na(s) + Cl2(g) → 2NaCl(s)

1 mole(71 g) of chlorine produces 2 moles(117  g) of sodium chloride

6 mole of chlorine gas will produce ? mole of sodium chloride

cross multiply

number of moles of NaCl produce = 6 × 2

number of moles of NaCl produce = 12 moles

number of moles of NaCl produce = 12 mol

In the chemical equation: NO(g) + ½Cl2(g) → NOCl(g) How many moles of NOCl(g) are in the balanced chemical equation? fill in bla
Mrrafil [7]

Answer:

1

Explanation:

The numbers in front of the formulas (the coefficients) tell you how many moles of a substance are involved in a reaction.

If no coefficient is shown, we assume it is 1.

NOCl has no coefficient, so 1 mol of NOCl is in the balanced equation.
