Answer: C. iron oxide

Explanation:

In a chemical reaction , the reactants are written on the left hand side followed by a rightarrow and then products are given on the right side of the arrow.

In the given chemical equation :

4Fe+3O_2\rightarrow 2Fe_2O_3

Reactants are iron (Fe) and oxygen (O_2) and product is iron oxide (Fe_2O_3).

How much MgO is made when 12Kg of Mg is completely burned in air?
Flauer [41]

Answer:

Mass = 20,000 g

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of MgO formed = ?

Mass of Mg react = 12 Kg (12 Kg × 1000/1 Kg = 12000 g)

Solution:

Chemical equation:

2Mg + O₂     →   2MgO

Number of moles of Mg:

Number of moles = mass/molar mass

Number of moles = 12000 g/ 24 g/mol

Number of moles = 500 mol

Now we will compare the moles of Mg and MgO.

             Mg          :           MgO

             2             :           2

            500         :          500

Mass of MgO:

Mass = number of moles × molar mass

Mass = 500 mol × 40 g/mol

Mass = 20,000 g

Which of the following elements will gain electrons to form an
blsea [12.9K]

Answer:

F

Explanation:

When an atom lose or gain electrons ions are formed.

There are two types of ions. Cation and anion.

Cation:

Cations are formed when atom lose electrons. For example:

X → X⁺ + e⁻

Anion:

It is formed when an atom gain electrons. For example:

X + e⁻  → X⁻

Fluorine is present in group seventeen. It has seven valance electrons. It gain one electron to complete the octet and form anion with charge of -1.

Calcium is alkaline earth metal. It is present in group two it loses two valance electrons and form cation with charge of +2.

Neon is noble gas. It already have complete octet. It can not form ions. To remove the electrons from noble gases very high temperature is required.

Zinc is present in group 12. It usually form cation by losing its two valance electrons but it can also show oxidation state -2.
