<h2>Answer:</h2>

The dilation produces a larger figure, the possible scale factor is:

                              5

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

We know that a dilation is a transformation that changes the size of the original figure while the shape remains unchanged.

The dilation transformation either shrinks or enlarges the figure depending on the factor known as a scale factor.

If the scale factor  is greater than 1 then the image is of larger size that is there is a enlargement in the figure .

and if the scale factor is less than 1 then there is a reduce in size of the original figure.

Also of scale factor=1 then there is no change.

               Hence, the answer is:

                          5

In order for the figure to be larger the scale of dilation has to be > 1
which means 5 is your answer.

yan [13]

Answer:

y=-\dfrac{1}{2}(x+4)^2-1

Step-by-step explanation:

Vertex form:  y=a(x-h)^2+k

where:

  • (h, k) is the vertex
  • a is some constant

Given:

  • vertex = (-4, -1)
  • point on parabola = (-2, -3)

Substitute given values into the formula to find a:

\implies -3=a((-2)-(-4))^2+(-1)

\implies -3=a(2)^2-1

\implies -3=4a-1

\implies -2=4a

\implies a=-\dfrac{2}{4}=-\dfrac{1}{2}

Therefore, the equation of the parabola is:

y=-\dfrac{1}{2}(x+4)^2-1
