Multiplying means you add the exponents and dividing means you subtract the exponents. Treat the decimals as you normally would.
(4.3 \times  {10}^{8} ) \times (2.0 \times  {10}^{6} )
4.3 \times 2.0 = 8.6
8 + 6 = 14
8.6 \times  {10}^{14}

(6 \times  {10}^{3} ) \times (1.5 \times  {10}^{ - 2} )
6 \times 1.5 = 9
3 +  - 2 = 1
9 \times  {10}^{1}

(1.5 \times  {10}^{ - 2} ) \times (8.0 \times  {10}^{ - 1} )
1.5 \times 8 = 12
- 2 +  - 1 =  - 3
12 \times  {10}^{ - 3}

\frac{(7.8 \times  {10}^{3}) }{(1.2 \times  {10}^{4}) }
\frac{7.8}{1.2}  = 6.5
3 - 4 =  - 1
6.5 \times  {10}^{ - 1}

\frac{(8.1 \times  {10}^{ - 2} )}{(9.0 \times  {10}^{2} )}
\frac{8.1}{9.0}  = 0.9
- 2 - 2 =  - 4
0.9 \times  {10}^{ - 4}

\frac{6.48 \times  {10}^{5} }{(2.4 \times  {10}^{4} )(1.8 \times  {10}^{ - 2}) }
2.4 \times 1.8 = 4.32
4 +  - 2 = 2
\frac{6.48 \times  {10}^{5} }{4.32 \times  {10}^{2} }
\frac{6.48}{4.32}  = 1.5
5 - 2 = 3
1.5 \times  {10}^{3}

Answer:

40/21

Step-by-step explanation:

-4/7+(-4/3)

common factor is 21

=21/7×-4-21/3×4

=3×-4-7×4 all divided by 21

=-12-28 all divided by 21

Answer:

The interquartile range of the data set is 5

The mean absolute deviation of the data set is 3.6

Step-by-step explanation:

* Lets explain how to find the interquartile range and the mean absolute

  deviation (MAD)

- The steps to find the interquartile range is:

1- Arrange the values from the smallest to the largest

∴ The values are 5 , 6 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 18 , 20

2- Find the median

- The median is the middle value after arrange them

* If there are two values in the middle take their average

∵ The values are 10 then the 5th and the 6th are the values

∵ The 5th is 12 and the 6th is 13

∴ The median = \frac{12+13}{2}=12.5

∴ The median is 12.5

3- Calculate the median of the lower quartile

- The lower quartile is the median of the first half data values

∵ There are 10 values

∴ The first half is the first five values

∴ The first half values are 5 , 6 , 10 , 11 , 12

∵ The middle value is 10

∴ The median of lower quartile = 10

- Similar find the median of the upper quartile

- The upper quartile is the median of the second half data values

∵ There are 10 numbers

∴ The second half is the last five values

∴ The second half values are 13 , 14 , 15 , 18 , 20

∵ The middle value is 15

∴ The median of upper quartile = 15

4- The interquartile range (IQR) is the difference between the upper

    and the lower medians

∴ The interquartile range = 15 - 10 = 5

* The interquartile range of the data set is 5

* Lets talk about the mean absolute deviation

- Mean absolute deviation (MAD) of a data set is the average distance

 between each data value and the mean

- To find the mean absolute deviation of the data, start by finding

   the mean of the data set.

1- Find the sum of the data values, and divide the sum by the

   number of data values.

∵ The data set is 5 , 6 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 18 , 20

∵ Its sum = 5 + 6 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 13 + 14 + 15 + 18 + 20 = 124

∵ The mean = the sum of the data values/the number of the data

∵ The set has 10 numbers

∴ The mean = 124/10 = 12.4

2- Find the absolute value of the difference between each data value

   and the mean ⇒ |data value – mean|

# I5 - 12.4I = 7.4

# I6 - 12.4I = 6.4

# I10 - 12.4I = 2.4

# I11 - 12.4I = 1.4

# I12 - 12.4I = 0.4

# I13 - 12.4I = 0.6

# I14 - 12.4I = 1.6

# I15 - 12.4I = 2.6

# I18 - 12.4I = 5.6

# I20 - 12.4I = 7.6

3- Find the sum of the absolute values of the differences.

∵ Their sum = 7.4 + 6.4 + 2.4 + 1.4 + 0.4 + 0.6 + 1.6 + 2.6 + 5.6 + 7.6

∴ Their sum = 36

4- Divide the sum of the absolute values of the differences by the

    number of data values  to find MAD

∴ MAD = The sum of the absolute values/number of the values

∵ The sum = 36

∵ The data set has 10 values

∴ MAD = 36/10 = 3.6

* The mean absolute deviation of the data set is 3.6

An isosceles triangle with equal sides of 5 inches and a base of 6 inches is inscribed in a circle. What is the radius, in inche
nikklg [1K]
Wow this is a doozy! First you have to figure out what is it you are looking for? If you make a dot in the center of the triangle (which is also the center of the circle) and draw a line from the center to one of the vertices of the triangle you have the radius of the triangle and also of the circle. If you draw all 3 radii from the triangle's center to its vertices, you see you have created 3 triangles within that one triangle.  The trick here is to figure out what your triangle measures are as far as angles go.  If we take the interior measures of those 3 triangles, we get that each one has a measure of 120 (360/3=120). So that's one of your angles, the one across from the side measuring 6. Because of the Isosceles Triangle theorem, we know that the 2 base angles have the same measure because the sides are the same. Subtracting 120 from 180 gives you 60 which, divided in half, makes each of those remaining angles measure 30 degrees. So if we extract that one triangle from the big one, we have a triangle with angles that measure 30-30-120, with the base measuring 6 and each of the other sides measuring 5. If we then split that triangle into 2 right triangles, we have one right triangle with measures 30-60-90. Dropping that altitude to create 2 right triangles not only split the 120 degree angle at the top in half, it also split the base side of 6 in half. So our right triangle has a base of 3 and we are looking for the hypotenuse of that right triangle.  WE have to use right triangle trig for that. Since we have the top angle of 60 and the base of 3, we can use sin60=3/x.  Solving for x we have x=3/sin60 which gives us an x value of 3.5 inches rounded from 3.464. I'm not sure what you mean by a mixed number unless you mean a decimal, but that's the radius of that circle.
