We need two definitions.
Two shapes are congruent if you can turn one into another using translation, rotation, and reflection.
Two shapes are similar if you rescale one them into a shape that is congruent to the other.
We can conclude from this that in euclidian geometry all circles are similar.
We can shrink the first circle to get the second one.
Scale factor would be 1/3 as circle 1 has the radius that is 3 times the radius of circle 2.

Find the coordinates of the point P that lies
victus00 [196]

The coordinates of point P are: (1/5 , -12/5)

Step-by-step explanation:

Here

R(-3,-4) = (x1,y1)

S(5,0) = (x2,y2)

The ratio is: 2:3

The coordinates of a point that divides the line in ratio m:n are given by:

Let P be the point then

(x_P, y_P) = (\frac{mx_2+nx_1}{m+n},\frac{my_2+ny_1}{m+n})

Putting values

(x_P, y_P) = (\frac{(2)(5)+(3)(-3)}{2+3},\frac{(2)(0)+(3)(-4)}{2+3})\\= (\frac{10-9}{5},\frac{0-12}{5})\\=(\frac{1}{5},\frac{-12}{5})

Hence,

The coordinates of point P are: (1/5 , -12/5)
