Answer:

Carbon dioxide (chemical formula CO 2) is an acidic colourless gas with a density about 53% higher than that of dry air. Carbon dioxide molecules consist of a carbon atom covalently double bonded to two oxygen atoms.

In CO2, the Carbon atom is in the central position as it is the least electronegative atom in the molecule. Two Oxygen atoms are located on the terminals where both these atoms share electrons and form bonds with the central Carbon atom.

Lewis structure of CO2 given in the attached image:

Arturiano [62]

Answer:

1.90 atm

Explanation:

Using ideal gas equation as:

PV=nRT

where,

P is the pressure

V is the volume

n is the number of moles

T is the temperature

R is Gas constant having value = 0.0821 L atm/ K mol

According to above equation, at constant Volume and number of moles, pressure is directly proportional to the temperature. So,

\frac {P_1}{T_1}=\frac {P_2}{T_2}

Given ,

P₁ = 1.51 atm

P₂ = ?

T₁ = 23 °C

T₂ = 100 °C  ( boiling point of water )

The conversion of T( °C) to T(K) is shown below:

T(K) = T( °C) + 273.15

So,

T₁ = (23 + 273.15) K = 296.15 K

T₂ = (100 + 273.15) K = 373.15 K

Using above equation as:

\frac{1.51}{296.15}=\frac{P_2}{373.15}

P_2=\frac{1.51\cdot \:373.15}{296.15}\ atm

<u>New Pressure = 1.90 atm</u>

In the reaction mechanism below, which substance is acting like a catalyst and is it homogeneous or heterogeneous?
sesenic [268]
Cl2 is acting like a catalyst because it came out in a same state.
and it's homogeneous reaction because they are all gases.

Atoms can gain lose or share electrons durning a chemical change why doesn't this cause the atoms identities to change?
Lynna [10]
<span>An atom's identity, that is, whether it is 'oxygen' or 'plutonium', for example, is determined solely by the number of protons in the nucleus. The number of neutrons also plays a part - a differing number of neutrons can change an atom from one isotope of an element into another, but the atoms would still remain the same element, albeit a different isotope. The number of electrons orbiting the atom does not change the identity of the atom, only it's electronic state. Take electrons away and it becomes a positively charged ion of the same element. Add electrons and it becomes a negatively charged ion, but still of the same element.</span>
