4^x-10\cdot2^x+16=0\Rightarrow(2^2)^x-10\cdot2^x+16=0\Rightarrow(2^x)^2-10\cdot2^x+16=0

subtitute\ 2^x=t > 0\\\\t^2-10t+16=0\\t^2-2t-8t+16=0\\t(t-2)-8(t-2)=0\\(t-2)(t-8)=0\iff t-2=0\ or\ t-8=0\\\\t=2\ or\ t=8\\\\t=2^1\ or\ t=2^3\\\\therefore\ 2^x=2^1\ or\ 2^x=2^3\\\\Answer:\boxed{x=1\ or\ x=3}

2^x=a
4^x=(2^2)^x=(2^x)^2=a^2

a^2-10a+16=0
Δ=10^2-4*1*16=100-64=36
√Δ=6
a1=(10+6)/2=16/2=8
a2=(10-6)/2=4/2=2
2^x=8=2^3⇒ x=3 or
2^x=2=2^1⇒ x=1

There are 2 solutions : x=1 or x=3

Ja'kniya and Alayjah are shopping at the Apple Store. Ja'kniya bought 4 screensavers and 3 Otterboxes for $29. Alayjah bought 6
Katarina [22]

Answer:  Each screensaver costs $2 and each Otterbox costs $7.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x = Cost of each screensaver and y = cost of each Otterbox.

As per given, 4x+3y=29       (i)

6x +2y = 26  (ii)

Divide both sides of (i) by 2 and the multiply it by 3 on sides , we get

9x+3y=39    (iii)

Eliminate (i) from (iii) , we get

5x = 10

⇒ x = 2  [Divide both sides by 5]

Put value of x in (i), we get

4(2)+3y=29

⇒ 8+3y= 29

⇒ 3y= 21

⇒ y =7 [Divide both sides by 7]

Hence, Each screensaver costs $2 and each Otterbox costs $7.

The following equation is being multiplied by the LCD. Complete the multiplication to eliminate the denominators
frosja888 [35]

Answer:

(x+2)(x-2) -1(3x)=(x-3)(x-2)

Step-by-step explanation:

x+2/3x - 1/x-2 = x-3/3x

\frac{x+2}{3x}-\frac{1}{x-2}=\frac{x-3}{3x}

LCD is (3x)(x-2). so we multiply the whole equation by LCD

(3x)(x-2)(\frac{x+2}{3x}-\frac{1}{x-2}=\frac{x-3}{3x})

We multiply each term by LCD

(3x)(x-2)(\frac{x+2}{3x})-(3x)(x-2)(\frac{1}{x-2})=(3x)(x-2)(\frac{x-3}{3x})

(x+2)(x-2) -1(3x)=(x-3)(x-2)
