How do I find out if a function is in standard form

A standard form is Ax+By= C
But the A can’t be a negative or a fraction so if a question gave you two coordinates (5,10)(-2,-4) to find the slope you would do change in y over x so your slope is 2 so now you know y=2x+b. After this substitute a coordinate 10=10+b so b is 0 so your equation is y=2x. To put it in standard form you move the 2x so -2x+y=0 and since Ax can’t be a negative you multiply everything by -1 to get a standard form of 2x-y=0

Hey!

A function in slope-intercept form would look like y=mx+b; with the x and y values on the opposites of the equation.

A function in standard form would look like ax+by=c; with the x and y values on the same side of the equation.

Hope this helps!

Sav [38]

Answer:

(-5, -8)

Step-by-step explanation:

- 9x + 5y = 5 \\  - 5x + 5y =  - 15

- 9x + 5y = 5 \\ 5x - 5y = 15

- 4x = 20

- x = 5

x =  - 5

-5( - 5) + 5y =  - 15

25 + 5y =  - 15

5y = -40

y = -8
