Hole filling fasteners (for example, MS20470 rivets) should not be used in composite structures primarily because of the?
DIA [1.3K]

Answer:

We can cause delamination.

Explanation:

The reason why is because the probability of causing delamination increase considerably when we use Hole-filling fasteners. If we use a typical rivet, these tends to expands in order to fill the hole.

If we analyze the force applied by the expanded rod will cause that the matrial will be deteriorated and will cause that the material to delaminate around the edges of the hole and we can cause possible control and no protection to the material.

A hockey puck is sliding across a frozen pond with an initial speed of 9.5 m/s. It comes to rest after sliding a distance of 37.
Bond [772]

Answer:

<h3>The coefficient of kinetic friction between the puck and the ice is \mu _{k} = 0.12</h3>

Explanation:

Given :

Initial speed  v_{o} = 9.5 \frac{m}{s}

Displacement x = 37.4 m

From the kinematics equation,

  v^{2} - v^{2} _{o}  = 2ax

Where v^{2} = final velocity, in our example it is zero (v =0), a = acceleration.

   a =- \frac{90.25}{ 2 \times 37.4}

   a =- 1.21 \frac{m}{s^{2} }

From the formula of friction,

  F =- \mu _{k } N

Minus sign represent friction is oppose the motion

Where N = mg ( normal reaction force )

 ma = -\mu _{k}  m g                                                  ( ∵ g = 9.8 \frac{m}{s^{2} } )

So coefficient of friction,

 \mu_{k} = \frac{1.21}{9.8}

 \mu_{k} = 0.12

Therefore, the coefficient of kinetic friction between the puck and the ice is  \mu _{k} = 0.12 .

An object of mass m is dropped from height h above a planet of mass M and radius R. Find an expression for the object’s speed
Oksana_A [137]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

mass of object is m

Mass of planet is M

radius of planet is R

Total Energy associated with mass m at a height h above planet is Gravitational Potential Energy which is given by

E_1=-\frac{GMm}{R+h}

When it falls on earth with some velocity v

E_2=Kinetic Energy+Potential Energy

=\frac{1}{2}mv^2+\frac{-GMm}{R}

As Energy is conserved therefore

=E_2

\frac{-GMm}{R+h}=\frac{1}{2}mv^2+\frac{-GMm}{R}

\frac{1}{2}mv^2=\frac{GMmh}{R(R+h)}

v=\sqrt{\frac{2GMh}{R(R+h)}}

Please Explain two ways nitrogen gas in the atmosphere is changed into nitrogen compounds that plants can use. -Thank you all in
KIM [24]
Not sure if this is what your looking for, but hope it helps. Nitrogen gas can be changed into nitrogen compound through nitrogen fixation, which is the conversion of nitrogen gas to ammonia, that are absorbed by the plant to make protein. Another way is through animals eating plants and obtaining nitrogen, which is later released, by decomposes, when the organism dies.
