When Brett and Will ride the carousel, Brett always selects a horse on the outside row, whereas Will prefers the row closest t

o the center. These rows are 19 ft 1 in.19 ft 1 in. and 11 ft 11 in.11 ft 11 in. from the center, respectively. The angular speed of the carousel is 2.72.7 revolutions per minute. What is the difference, in miles per hour, in the linear speeds of Brett and Will?

Answer:

the difference, in miles per hour, in the linear speeds of Brett and Will;

∆v = 1.38 mph

Explanation:

Given;

Angular speed w = 2.7 revolutions per minute

Converting to revolutions per hour

w = 2.7 × 60 revolutions per hour

w = 162 rev/hour

Linear speed v = angular speed × 2πr

the difference, in miles per hour, in the linear speeds of Brett and Will;

∆v = w × 2π(r1 - r2)

r1 = Brett radius in miles

r2 = Will radius in miles

r1 = 19ft 1in = (19×12 + 1) = 229 in

r1 = 229 × 1.57828283 × 10^-5 miles

r2 = 11 ft 11 in = (11×12 + 11) = 143 in

r2 = 143 × 1.57828283 × 10^-5 miles

Substituting the values;

∆v = 162 × 2π × (229-143)×1.57828283 × 10^-5 mph

∆v = 1.38 mph

In ionic bonds what happens to electrons?
OverLord2011 [107]
I think the correct answer from the choices would be that metals donate electrons to nonmetals. Ionic bonding involves transfer of valence electrons. The metal looses its valence electrons which makes it a cation while the nonmetal accepts these electrons.

You are making a round trip from City A to City B and back to City A again at constant speed. At what point in the trip is your
MA_775_DIABLO [31]

Answer:

Halfway between B and A on the return leg.

Explanation:

Your average SPEED for the entire trip will equal your constant speed as the time and distance increase at proportionate rates.

Your average VELOCITY will equal your constant speed while you travel from A to B because time and displacement are increasing at proportionate rates.

When you turn around at B to return, your Displacement is now decreasing while your travel time continues to increase, so your average velocity decreases.

Lets say the distance from A to B is 90 km and your constant speed is 30 km/hr.

your average speed is 30 km/hr because you took 6 hrs to travel 180 km

We want to find your position when your average velocity is 30/3 = 10 km/hr

it took 3 hrs to go 90 km from A to B. Let t be the time lapsed since turn around

your displacement is given by d = 90 - 30(t)

and your total time of travel is t + 3 hrs

 v = d/t

10 = (90 - 30t) / (t + 3)

10(t + 3) = (90 - 30t)

10t + 30 = 90 - 30t

40t = 60

t = 1.5 hrs

This will occur when you are halfway between B and A

The time T in seconds for a pendulum of length L feet to make one swing is given by Upper T=2\pi \sqrt((L)/(36)). How long is a
Andreyy89

Answer:

3.6ft

Explanation:

Using= 2*π*sqrt(L/32)

To solve for L, first move 2*n over:

T/(2*π) = sqrt(L/32)

Next,eliminate the square root by squaring both sides

(T/(2*π))2 = L/32

or

T2/(4π2) = L/32

Lastly, multiply both sides by 32 to yield:

32T2/(4π2) = L

and simplify:

8T²/π²= L

Hence, L(T) = 8T²/π²

But T = 2.1

Pi= 3.14

8(2.1)²/3.14²

35.28/9.85

= 3.6feet
