"No taxation without representation" is a slogan originating during the 1700s that summarized a primary grievance of the American colonists in the Thirteen Colonies, which was one of the major causes of the American Revolution. In short, many in those colonies believed that, as they were not directly represented in the distant British Parliament, any laws it passed affecting the colonists (such as the Sugar Act and the Stamp Act) were illegal under the Bill of Rights 1689, and were a denial of their rights as Englishmen.
People were amazed to see this miraculous form of light in which there was no gas, no flame, no oil, just a visible stream of energy. At first they didn’t understand how it worked because you can’t see the electricity. So, it was viewed as something magical by most of the people.
We were able to move from place to place easier than ever before. This helped with trade, so we could deliver goods more efficiently, while it helped with transportation so we didn't have to take so long of a tiring journey anymore.

They knew the Greek idea of direct democracy. While they didn't necessarily apply the idea in their political system directly, they did apply some ideas that were shared with the Greeks that made the Roman political system more stable and better in the end.
