When two elements react to combine another compound, an addition reactions occurs. In this case we have a metal and a non metal in a addition reaction which forms a salt Sodium Chloride (NaCl).

The balanced reaction is:

For salt formation procedure crude lidocaine should be dissolved in diethyl ether and 2 ml of 2.2 M sulfuric acid should be adde
mixas84 [53]

Answer:

20 equivalents of sulfuric acid are needed to per equivalent of lidocaine.

Explanation:

To do this calculation we should take in account the key information given:

2 mL (0.02 L) of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) 2.2 M per 1 g of lidocaine (molecular weight=234.34 g/mol)

So we can calculate from here the number of moles of each compound needed for the procedure.

Starting with the sulfuric acid, we know that the molar concentration is defined as [concentration] =n(moles number)/V(volume).

So n=[concentration]*V, and therefore :

n(H2SO4)=2.2 M * 0.02 L=0.044 mol

While the moles of lidocaine can be calculated as n(moles number)=m(mass amount)/mW(molecular weight), so:

n(lidocaine)=m(lidocaine)/mW(lidocaine)= 1 g /234,34 g/mol~0,0043 mol.

Now we can calculate the equivalents.

Take in account that for sulfuric acid, de number of equivalents per mole is 2 (because of the double dissociation of the acid), while the number of equivalents per mole of lidocaine is 1.

Then we can conclude that:

0,0043 equivalents of lidocaine need 0,088 equivalents of sulfuric acid

1 equivalent of lidocaine need (0,088/0.0043)=20,46~20 equivalents of sulfuric acid

Finally, we can conclude that for the described procedure, 20 equivalents of sulfuric acid per equivalent of lidocaine are needed.

How many moles do you need to prepare 1.675 L of a 8.50 M NaOH solution? Round your answer to 2 decimal places.
vampirchik [111]

Answer:

0.20 mol's

Explanation:

1.675 L = 1.675 dm^3

moles = V/(conc):

moles = 1.675/(8.5)

moles = 0.1970... --> 0.20

If an atom has the electron configuration 1s22s22p 1 , how many electrons must it gain to achieve an octet?
konstantin123 [22]
According to octet rule element has eight electrons in its valence shell.This give it the same electronic configuration as a group 18 elements.Atom with electronic configuration 1s2 2s2 2p1 require five electrons to achieve octet. This is because the valence electrons are 3 in 2s2 and 2p1 and hence require 5 electrons to be filled.

What is the molarity of a 27.0% (v/v) aqueous ethanol solution? the density of ethanol (c2h6o, molar mass 46.07 g/mol) is 0.790
RoseWind [281]
   The molarity of a 27%(v/v) aqueous ethanol solution is 4.63 M

         calculation
convert  27%(v/v) to  fraction  = 27ml/100 ml

use  density to  convert  27ml  to grams =  27 ml  x0.79 g/ml = 21.33 g

find the number of moles of C2H6O

moles = mass/molar mass of C2H6O(46.07 g/mol)

moles is therefore = 21.33 g /46.07 g/mol =0.463  moles

find the molarity = moles /volume in liters

volume in liter =  100 ml/1000 = 0.1 L

molarity  is therefore =  0.463 mole/0.1 L = 4.63  M
