First of all the Volume of a cylinder come from the formula base*height or

Thus the volume of the 2 cylinders are in ratio of 3*3*10/5*5*9=90/225 or 90:225

Let f(x) = 4x – 2 and g(x) = x + 1. Find the following function value.<br> (f - g)(-3)
Nataly [62]

Answer:

(f - g)(3) = 6

General Formulas and Concepts:

<u>Pre-Algebra</u>

  • Order of Operations: BPEMDAS

<u>Algebra I</u>

  • Function Notation

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

f(x) = 4x - 2

g(x) = x + 1

<u>Step 2: Find</u>

<em>Find (f - g)(x)</em>

  1. Substitute:                         (f - g)(x) = 4x - 2 - (x + 1)
  2. Distribute -1:                      (f - g)(x) = 4x - 2 - x - 1
  3. Combine like terms:         (f - g)(x) = 3x - 3

<em>Find (f - g)(3)</em>

  1. Substitute:                         (f - g)(3) = 3(3) - 3
  2. Multiply:                             (f - g)(3) = 9 - 3
  3. Subtract:                            (f - g)(3) = 6
