To tugboats pull a disabled supertanker. Each tug exerts a constant force of 1.50•10^6 N, one at an angle 19.0° west of north, a
irina1246 [14]

Answer:

Work done by a tug boat, W = 1.735 x 10⁸ J

Explanation:

Given,

The of each tugboat, F = 1.5 x 10⁶ N

The angle of each tugboat forms with the resultant force, θ = 19°

The displacement of the supertanker, s = 710 m

The individual tugboat will be responsible for the displacement, d = 710/2

                                                                                                               = 355 m

The displacement component in each tugboat direction = 355 · sin θ meter

Therefore, the work done by each tugboat is

                                           W = F x S    joules

Substituting the values in the above equation

                                            W = 1.5 x 10⁶  x  355 · sin θ

                                                = 1.735 x 10⁸ J

Hence, the work done by each tugboat is, W = 1.735 x 10⁸ J

Two objects are made of the same material, but they have different masses and temperatures. If the objects are brought into ther
DIA [1.3K]

The smaller body will have greater temperature change.

Explanation:

Temperature is defined as the degree of hotness or coldness of a body. The relationship of the temperature with heat is described as

Q =m c dT.

Where Q is the heat content

m is the mass of body

c is the specific heat of body

dT is the temperature change of body.

Here the bodies are made up of same substance, so specific heat is same. The mass of bigger body is M and smaller body is m.

So the temperature change of the body will be dependent on the mass of the body. Heat loss by one body will be equal to heat gained by the other.

So M dT1 = mdT2.

So, M/m = dT2 / dT1.

So the the smaller body will be suffering higher temperature change.

Answer:

Explanation:

W = Fd

Engine 500(20) = 10000 J

friction 200(-20) = -4000 J

Energy increase is 10000 - 4000 = 6000 J

Please help with this question, step by step

Thank you!
mamaluj [8]

From the calculation, the force constant is 192 N. Also, friction would decrease the extension.

What is the force constant?

We know that the force constant can be obtained by the use of the relation;

F = Ke

F = applied force

K = force constant

e = extension

We know from Hooks law that the force applied is directly proportional to the extension.

We can write;

F = mgcosθ

F = 43 Kg * 9.8 m/s^2 * sin31°

F = 217 N

K = 217 N/1.13 m

K = 192 N/m

If there is friction between the incline and the crate, it will stretch less because some work will be lost due to friction causing only some fraction of the elastic potential energy to be converted to kinetic energy.
