Answer:

Prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase.

Explanation:

Mitosis is a type of cell division in which a single mature parent cell is divided into two daughter cells having double number of chromosomes and identical to parent cell. There are four phases of mitosis which are prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. During prophase phase, chromatin condenses into chromosomes. During prophase phase, the chromosomes of the cell align themselves in the middle of the cell. During prophase phase, During prophase phase, the splitting of chromosomes occur and the separated chromosomes goes to the opposite poles of the cell. During telophase, it results in the production of two nonidentical daughter cells.

2. If a nucleus has 8 chromosomes, how many chromosomes will be present after Telophase I? 3. What advantage does crossing-over
Brums [2.3K]

Answer:

Telophase I: 8 chromosomes composed of two sister chromatids

Crossing over refers to the mechanism of recombination, this process being characterized in that increases the genetic variation

Spermatogenesis refers to the mechanism of formation of male gametes (sperms), while oogenesis is the process of formation of female gametes (oocytes)

Explanation:

Telophase I is the final step in meiosis I. During telophase I, the nuclear membrane is formed around the decondensed set of chromosomes and the nucleoli reappear.

Spermatogenesis refers to the process by which haploid male germ cells (sperms) are generated within the seminiferous tubules in the testis, while oogenesis refers to the process of differentiation of the female egg cells (ova or oocytes) in the ovaries. Spermatogenesis is known to produce small and motile spermatic cells, while oogenesis is known to produce bigger non-motile oocytes.

A geneticist has devised a strategy to study protein translocation into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in yeast cells. She is in
Brrunno [24]

Answer:

A geneticist has devised a strategy to study protein translocation into the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in yeast cells. She is interested in two different signal sequences that are thought to operate via slightly different translocation mechanisms. Using genetic engineering, she has fused the first signal sequence to a protein whose cytosolic expression is absolutely necessary for cell survival in the selective medium, but is inactive when in the ER. In the same cell, she has also fused the second signal sequence to a toxic protein whose cytosolic expression leads to cell lysis but is harmless when in the ER. Whereas wild-type cells undergo lysis upon the expression of these fusion proteins, she has been able to identify viable mutants, each of which has a loss-of-function mutation in a gene encoding a protein involved in membrane translocation. The products of these genes are probably ...

Explanation:

Involved in the transport of proteins with the first signal sequence but not the second one.
