When we have negative exponents, we can move the term with the exponent to the bottom of the fraction. This is also known as multiplying by the reciprocal (and changing the negative exponent to be positive!).

The reciprocal of z^-3 would be 1 / z^3.

Hope this helps!! :)

A positive integer is twice another.the sum of the reciprocal of the two positive integer is 3/14. Find the integers
icang [17]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{14\ \text{and}\ 7}

Step-by-step explanation:

n,\ m-\text{positive integer}\\\\n=2m-\text{a positive integer is twice another}\\\\\dfrac{1}{n}+\dfrac{1}{m}=\dfrac{3}{14}-\text{the sum of the reciprocal of the two positive integer is }\ \dfrac{3}{14}\\\\\text{We have the system of equations:}\\\\\left\{\begin{array}{ccc}n=2m&(1)\\\dfrac{1}{n}+\dfrac{1}{m}=\dfrac{3}{14}&(2)\end{array}\right

\text{Substitute (1) to (2):}\\\\\dfrac{1}{2m}+\dfrac{1}{m}=\dfrac{3}{14}\\\\\dfrac{1}{2m}+\dfrac{1\cdot2}{m\cdot2}=\dfrac{3}{14}\\\\\dfrac{1}{2m}+\dfrac{2}{2m}=\dfrac{3}{14}\\\\\dfrac{1+2}{2m}=\dfrac{3}{14}\\\\\dfrac{3}{2m}=\dfrac{3}{14}\Rightarrow2m=14\qquad\text{divide both sides by 2}\\\\\dfrac{2m}{2}=\dfrac{14}{2}\\\\\boxed{m=7}

\text{Substitute it to (1):}\\\\n=2\cdot7\\\\\boxed{n=14}

12345 [234]
In an installment loan, a lender loans a borrower a principal amount P, on which the borrower will pay a yearly interest rate of i (as a fraction, e.g. a rate of 6% would correspond to i=0.06) for n years. The borrower pays a fixed amount M to the lender q times per year. At the end of the n years, the last payment by the borrower pays off the loan.

After k payments, the amount A still owed is

<span>A = P(1+[i/q])k - Mq([1+(i/q)]k-1)/i, = (P-Mq/i)(1+[i/q])k + Mq/i. </span>The amount of the fixed payment is determined by<span>M = Pi/[q(1-[1+(i/q)]-nq)]. </span>The amount of principal that can be paid off in n years is<span>P = M(1-[1+(i/q)]-nq)q/i. </span>The number of years needed to pay off the loan isn = -log(1-[Pi/(Mq)])/(q log[1+(i/q)]). The total amount paid by the borrower is Mnq, and the total amount of interest paid is<span>I = Mnq - P.</span>
