Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

The fulminate ion, CNO − , is a pseudohalic ion because its charge and reactivity are similar to those of the halogens. Due to the instability of the ion, fulminate salts are friction-sensitive explosives. The best known is mercury(II) fulminate, which has been used as a primary explosive in detonators(Wikipedia).

The most important contributing structure is the one in which the formal charges on carbon, nitrogen and oxygen are; -1, +1, -1 as shown in the image attached to this answer.

1. What are the rows of the periodic table called and what do they tell us?
Vedmedyk [2.9K]

Answer:

The elements are arranged in seven horizontal rows, called periods or series, and 18 vertical columns, called groups.

Each row represents one period; the period number of an element indicates how many of its energy levels house electrons. Sodium, for instance, sits in the third period, which means a sodium atom typically has electrons in the first three energy levels.

C3H8 + 5O2 → 3CO2+ 4H2O, if 5.75L of oxygen are consumed in the above reaction, how many L of carbon dioxide are produced?
anzhelika [568]

Answer: 3.45 L carbon dioxide are produced

Explanation:

According to avogadro's law, 1 mole of every substance occupies 22.4 L at STP and contains avogadro's number 6.023\times 10^{23} of particles.

To calculate the moles, we use the equation:

\text{Number of moles}=\frac{\text{Given volume}}{\text {Molar volume}}=\frac{5.75L}{22.4L}=0.257moles

C_3H_8+5O_2(g)\rightarrow 3CO_2+4H_2O

According to stoichiometry :

5 moles of O_2 produce =  3 moles of CO_2

Thus 0.257 moles of O_2 will produce=\frac{3}{5}\times 0.257=0.154moles  of CO_2

Volume of CO_2=moles\times {\text {Molar volume}}=0.154moles\times 22.4L/mol=3.45

Thus 3.45 L carbon dioxide are produced

How many protons, neutrons, and electrons will an isotope with an atomic mass of 11 and an atomic number of 5 contain?
nignag [31]

Answer:

5 protons, 6 neutrons, and 5 electrons.

Explanation:

An isotope is an element which has the same number of protons. However, it has a different number of neutrons. A proton has a positive charge. A electron has a negative charge and a neutron has no/neutral charge. They are five protons because the atomic number is 5. Furthermore, atomic number gives you the number of protons. They are six neutrons since 11 - 6 = 5.  You use the atomic mass to find that out. In order to find the atomic mass, it is number of protons + the number of neutrons. They are five electrons since the isotope is a neutral atom. Unless it is an ion, there won't either be an increase or decrease in electrons. An ion is an element that either has a positive or negative charge.  For example, if Lithium has 3 protons, 4 neutrons, and 5 electrons, then lithium has an 2- charge. It has two more electrons more than protons. Therefore,  it is written as li^2-. Another example is if Carbon has 6 protons, 6 neutrons, and 2 electrons, then Carbon has a +4 charge. It has four more protons than electrons. Therefore, it is written as C^+4.

Don't forget this; thank you. (I take AP Chemistry).
