In order to solve this let us for at assume that the value of the width is X. Therefore the length will be x+5.

We can now write an equation:

(X+5) + (X+5) + X + X = 58

Combining like terms we should get
4X + 10 = 58

Now subtract 10 from both sides to get
4x = 48

Divide by 4 now and you should get

X = 12

Now we know the value of X and therefore the width.

If x = a + bi and y = c + di, x × y = y × x.
Cloud [144]
X = a + bi
y = c + di

                                      xy = yx
                   (a + bi)(c + di) = (c + di)(a + bi)
          a(c + di) + bi(c + di) = c(a + bi) + di(a + bi)
a(c) + a(di) + bi(c) + bi(di) = c(a) + c(bi) + di(a) + di(bi)
         ac + adi + bci + bdi² = ac + bci + adi + bdi²
            ac + adi + bci - bd = ac + bci + adi - bd

Find x and y. Please write your answer in simplified radical form.
scoray [572]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

Using the sine and cosine ratios in the right triangle

sin30° = \frac{opposite}{hypotenuse} = \frac{6}{y}

Multiply both sides by y

y × sin30° = 6 ( divide both sides by sin30° )

y = \frac{6}{sin30} = \frac{6}{\frac{1}{2} } = 12

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

cos30° = \frac{adjacent}{hypotenuse} = \frac{x}{y}

Multiply both sides by y ( y = 12 )

12 × cos30° = x

x = 12 × \frac{\sqrt{3} }{2} = 6\sqrt{3}
