For democracy, there is direct democracy and representative democracy. The person who rules in direct democracy is the people as a whole and the person who rules in a representative democracy is someone elected by the people to represent them. Democracy is when the people are in charge. ]

Theocracy is technically a priest ruling saying they are ruling in the name of God or a deity. The priest rules.

A republic is technically a representative democracy except one person is in charge instead of many elected representatives.

An oligarchy is when a small group of people have control of the government. Usually wealthy individuals.

A dictatorship is when someone has absolute power over a sovereign state or a country. Famous examples of dictators are Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini
