Can a possessive pronoun be used as a direct object, indirect object, or object of a preposition?
jekas [21]
A possessive pronoun can be used as a direct object and as an indirect object. It can never be used as an object of preposition. Take the following sentence for example: She gifted her daughter a car. Her is a possessive pronoun, and her daughter is the indirect object of the verb gifted. Another example: He ate his breakfast quickly. He is the possessive pronoun, and his breakfast is the direct object of the verb ate.

Does anybody know the answer key to the CommonLit, "The Life of Julius Caesar."?
lisabon 2012 [21]

Answer:

According to Shakespeare as the author of this play, He portrays Caesar as an ambitious and loyal man. He is a prisoner of his principles and always fixed to the laws of public institutions. He was charged by his conspirators as someone whose judgment is delusional because he looks for absolute power over Rome which was not true. His faith in his principles and obedience to the law did not allow him to quit going to the Senate. He does not pay heed to his wife's dream because he was a man of his words.

Explanation:

Caesar's aura and public image was immortal to him and he always has a deep faith on his capabilities. The ideas of Caesar which were conflicting to Rome powerful elite made sense by the end of the play in Act V when Brutus finally accepted that Caeser's power is beyond his grave and producing misfortune for them.

When Gulliver is repulsed by Pedro de Mendez and Gulliver's own family, what does his repulsion show about his character?
Aloiza [94]

It shows an evolution which will alienate him from society for the rest of his life. Indeed, Gulliver has found a race of talking horses that have the perfect society with no crime or vices or any form of corruption. These race of Houyhnhnms is the master of the island and rules over savage, dirty and grotesque humanoid creatures which are called the Yahoos. After spending sometime in the island, Gulliver feels more Houyhnhnm than human and considers humans a backward species. It is to be noted nonetheless, that Gulliver is rescued by a Portuguese captain that is very generous and sensitive and his refusal and disgust to acknowledge this implies that he still has the vice of pride very much ingrained in his nature.
